And I know what you mean about the Time Bandits slipcover. I was looking through the Criterion section at one of my local Vintage Stock stores on Thursday and saw it for the first time. Very cool ... I want one, too.
Speaking of Vintage Stock, yesterday the clerk told me they have a BOGO email coupon coming out tomorrow or Monday. I think I'll be picking up 'Ed Wood' and 'Summer Interlude'.

jm, does your Vintage Stock get many used CC movies in? I used to buy all of mine at B&N or Amazon, but I've found a ton of used ones there and Half-Price Books lately.

Oh, and thanks for the info on 'Summer Interlude', Damian. It sounds like something I'll enjoy.

Marion Cotillard doing a Criterion interview.
2 suns, 1 moon in the Criterion newsletter.
IFC.
Dardennes.

Seems as confirmed as it can be without being confirmed.

Based on those dates, since last sale was a bit later than normal, i think there is a possibility this year could be early March, probably not enough time for The Soft Skin to enter, but enough for Watership Down and Satyricon.

Like Father, Like Son already has a US release (dvd only) so that one has sadly left limbo for a less than stellar destination.

There is a UK blu, but some dislike it's forced subtitles. Others of course are Region A only.

The Vintage Stock store in Joplin is their "flagship" store. It's gigantic ... about as large as a Target, with lots of inventory. They don't get a lot of used Criterions, but I've picked up a lot of OOP titles from other companies that are dirt cheap.

I miss Half-Price Books so much! When I lived in Dallas-Fort Worth, I used to make a day of it, hitting all the stores in the Metroplex. I'm jealous you have one close by!

Booh!, those companies are the worst, why even bother releasing it if it is just on DVD, i know there might not be enough audience for some titles, but aren't they reducing their audience further by not releasing a blu ray? for example if i want one of those only dvd the only solution is to buy it from another country, not settling for the dvd.

Just so everyone knows, fye is running 40% off Criterion at the moment. They also were offering a 20% off coupon for doing a survey. Brought them to over 50% off. The 20% was off the entire order so I grabbed Seven Samurai and Badlands on Blu. Also got a few other good Blus. Coupon is crazy ymmv but thought it was worth mentioning.

If you've seen Two Days, One Night take a look at this interview. Great stuff:

Agreed. At least it's not as exclusive as Criterion Forum. Seriously, who do I have to sell my soul to in order to get my posts approved on that forum?

Last year, the 15th was on a Saturday and the following Monday was Presidents' day. The Criterion announcements were made on Tuesday, the 18th. Amazon put the pre-orders up on the 14th, so we knew ahead of time. So far Amazon hasn't fulfilled their public service commitment this year .

The next time the Presidents' Day curse is not in effect is 2017, for those keeping score.

I'm not foolish enough to make any actual predictions but I would guess that if Criterion is indeed going to release Two Days, One Night, that they will want to bring it out before all the buzz about Marion Cotillard's Oscar-nominated performance totally dissipates.

The nicest thing about this month's announcements is that it will be four weeks (or maybe just 27 days) until the next spate of revelations!

Considering that I've never even been close with my predictions in the past, I've sworn them off for life.

I'm more then ready for Beyond the Hills (2012).It would also be encouraging to see a Warner title get released, as was hinted at the Wexner talks.

The Hit
Homicide
BRD Trilogy
Night and the City
