I've never heard if the German blu is also like that. I'll have to check.

Default Hmm

Was The New World confirmed by Criterion formally, or are posters running with interpretations of the cartoon as "confirmation"?

You know what I'd love? Some of the Sony Pictures Classics catalog from the mid-to-late '90s. Some gems in there:
-Living in Oblivion
-SLC Punk!
-Welcome to the Dollhouse

Sorry to detract from the monthly announcement talk. But I just finished a double header of Bottle Rocket and Rushmore. I thought Bottle Rocket was amazing I absolutely love the film but I cannot say the same for Rushmore. I felt that Rushmore just kind of dragged along and the humor was not as prevalent as it was in Bottle Rocket. My questions are what does everyone see in Rushmore, it really didn't do it for me and then based on my love of Bottle Rocket and really enjoying Moonrise Kingdom, Grand Budapest Hotel, and Royal Tennebaums where do Life Aquatic and Darjeeling Limited stand. Thanks

He did for Eraserhead so yes, he would.

I love Rushmore but was bored by Bottle Rocket myself. That said, having not seen Grand Budapest, Life Aquatic just beats out Rushmore as my favorite Wes Anderson. Darjeeling Limited is lower spectrum, but the short film preceding it is quite possibly his best work. You didn't ask, but (to me) Fantastic Mr. Fox really sucks.

Ranking for features:
1. The Life Aquatic
2. Rushmore
3. The Royal Tenenbaums
4. Moonrise Kingdom
5. The Darjeeling Limited
6. Bottle Rocket
7. Fantastic Mr. Fox

I'll always Remember him as Count Dracula from the outstanding TV film of the same name.

Here's hoping!!
Wild at Heart is a definite "no". Twilight Time released it on Blu-ray Last April, and their exclusivity window doesn't end until April 2017 (even though it's OOP). And Kino Lorber Studio Classics will be releasing it on DVD in late April of this year.

I was at Costco last Saturday and (a) was surprised to see about 10 different Criterion titles and (b) Tess in a regular case. It looked odd not being in a Digipak.

I forgot about the Twilight Time release... and therefore didn't get one of the limited 3000 copies. It'd be nice if Criterion could get it in 2017, for a release later.

Don't forget that there is a region-free German import that is currently selling rather cheaply.

Letter From an Unknown Woman is a fantastic movie. I was surprised that it was the highest ranking Ophuls film on that list we were talking about a week ago. It is available via Olive Films blu-ray.

Thanks, Ill definitely check out Life Aquatic. See I don't get how more people are not fans of Bottle Rocket, I thought it was hilarious and just all around perfect. It reminded me of Napoleon Dynamite meets Wedding Crashers, with that midwest America dry humor feel, but the constant amazing quotes that are delivered perfectly.

Plus a great performance by James Caan and the Brothers Wilson to boot!
