There's been talk of The Tree of Life getting a director's cut. It would easily make my year if that was released on Criterion.

I loved his first 3 films, the only one that's grown a bit stale to me with repeated viewings is Rushmore. Maybe that's just me though.

I just don't "get" the rest of his catalog. To me it all went downhill after Royal Tenenbaums. I am not sure which one I consider more rock bottom between Life Aquatic or Darjeeling Limited. I found both to be coma inducing. Completely squandered those great casts IMO. His last two were at least enjoyable, but all too familiar. He's definitely a guy that is content with his found style, for better or for worse.

Ranking for features:
1. The Life Aquatic
2. Rushmore
3. The Royal Tenenbaums
4. Moonrise Kingdom
5. The Darjeeling Limited
6. Bottle Rocket
7. Fantastic Mr. Fox
I'd rank them thusly...

1. Rushmore
2. The Life Aquatic
3. Moonrise Kingdom
4. The Royal Tenenbaums
5. Fantastic Mr. Fox
6. The Darjeeling Limited
7. Bottle Rocket

Rushmore, and it's really all due to Bill Murray, is a phenomenal piece of work. It's by far one of my favorite films he has done.

Yeah, sometimes it's hard being a Wes Anderson fan in here. So always nice to have a few posts with someone before the thread freaks out. Just kidding everyone!!!

Completely forgot about Grand Budapest Hotel. Not sure where I'd put that one. I've only see it once, and kind of liked it... was a little disappointed really. I was going to buy the blu when it was $4 or $5 on Amazon a while back, but decided to hold off for a Criterion release.

Well, Kino getting the DVD rights might screw that up. As far as I know, Kino's rights don't have a set window of exclusivity, so as long as they're happy with the sales, they wouldn't be likely to give up their rights. Which means that Criterion would only be able to pick up BD rights after Twilight Time's rights expire. I doubt that Criterion would license it only for Blu-ray. Assuming that Kino is happy with the DVD sales, I wouldn't be surprised if they picked up the BD rights when TT's license expires. Kino's actually picked up a few titles for DVD that TT has released on BD.

So this is what we do on a holiday on a day we aren't 100% sure if Criterion announcements will be announced, rank Wes Anderson's films... well, I'll do it too.

These are my favorite films of his, but not necessarily the best overall by the view of critics and the mainstream public:

1. The Darjeeling Limited - 8/10
2. The Royal Tenenbaums - 8/10
3. The Grand Budapest Hotel - 8/10
4. Bottle Rocket - 7/10
5. The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou - 7/10
6. Rushmore - 7/10
7. Moonrise Kingdom - 6/10
8. Fantastic Mr. Fox - 6/10

Welcome to the Dollhouse would be amazing. We already have Life During Wartime and Happiness needs to happen. They are a trilogy of sorts according to Solondz. If it was announced, I would do a dance similar to this:

I freely admit to not "getting" Wes Anderson.

I always say that, for me, watching a Wes Anderson movie is like being at a party where I do not know any of the other guests, but they all know one another and they are all telling inside jokes that go over my head.

That said, I like Rushmore fairly well, and I'll probably give Bottle Rocket a go at some point. I did not quite get into The Royal Tenenbaums.
