Yeah, I'm excited to finally get some Audrey in HD (Although I'm waiting for the day when Fair Lady, Roman Holiday, and Tiffany's are announced). I recorded Charade on HDNet Movies tonight and it's in HD so I can't wait to watch it! If it's anything like the blu release, I'm sure it will be awesome. I just saw the first few minutes and so far it's nice and clean but with just the right amount of natural film grain intact, and colors are that wonderful 60's spectrum, hehe!

Just finished Walkabout and I was impressed.

I think I am going to try and pick up Pierrot le fou (if I can find it), Vivre sa vie, and Walkabout at the Criterion sale.

The Last Metro sounds like an awesome movie as well. I am going to watch that one tomorrow.

Watched Mystery Train for the first time after blind buying it and I was very disappointed. To be perfectly honest I think it kinda sucks. And I almost always enjoy Criterion selected films. The whole film just didn't make much sense to me and I nearly got bored and turned it off at one point.

My moste wanted Audrey Blu-ray is Wait Until Dark but I don't truly expect that one for a long while I suppose that I could be happy with a release of Roman Holiday, War & Peace & My Fair Lady. They would keep me occupied for a while

About 3 more months for Charade now, you guys will hate me by the time it;s release

Question

Hey there,

one question concerning Criterion's "By Brakhage: An Anthology" BD:

Is there a pixel error in the "DOG STAR MAN Prelude" @ 6 Min and 5 Sec or does that brown pixeled white screen belong to the film?

Thanks in advance for checking it out!

That's certainly odd..... What about it didn't make sense? It was multiple stories that coincided..... The different experiences of those in Memphis....

And I don't know what to say about it boring you.... I was laughing through the whole thing!

Such a under rated film... Its up there in my top films. Although I prefer Holiday over Roman Holiday. I'm more partial to Grant and Hepburn. Would be nice to get Philadephia story as well.

I was thinking about blind buying mystery train as well and now have second thoughts. Any other impressions?

Do you guys think amazon.com might price-match BN's half-off prices?

They will likely have a coinciding sale, but not a "price-match" per-se

Yes, "Mystery Train" is a fantastic film. Now, buy it! You shouldn't need much more prodding than that. If you have doubts, then rent the film and make your own decision.

Listen to me and Beta over Chad. It's that simple.

Chad, I have seen the film 3 times, including the BD viewing 2 weeks ago and feel the same way. I gave it several chances, but just could never get into it. The characters are what do it for me. In a story, I like to feel or care about the characters. These did nothing for me at all. It's ironic, because Jarmusch prides hmself on his characters and their situations. If you want to try Jarmusch again, try Broken Flowers, it was a little better movie to me.

If you look at the AMZ price tracker for some of the older CC films, AMZ matched the $19.99 price on some of the titles when B&N had their sale on in July and Nov. last year if that helps with your decision. As usual, there is no guarantee, but if you need some of the older titles and have an AMZ giftcard or prime, you may want to wait. I have to pay 10% tax here in Chicago, and I am not a B&N member, so I have to pay $22 for each BD title and a little less if I want a dvd. I always wait to see what AMZ matches, because it saves me a couple $$ since I have prime.

I have an excel spreadsheet that shows how many discs each were released but nothing in terms of thickness. The best I have is my photo of my personal Criterion Collection (note: photo is large, so you can see the comparison in size), if you need to compare. I'm not a completest though, so you won't find things you maybe looking for but they are in Criterion's numerical order.

Just saw this. Normally, I'm pretty good at these clues. But I have no idea on this one.
