Wings of Desire UKP 7.99 on Amazon UK ($15 shipped). Region free.
Would I missing out (on extras, etc) by buying this version for $5 less than the Criterion sale at B&N next week?

Anyone read Criterion's Current post yesterday? It has a very tiny blurb about the Chaplin films coming over the next couple of years.

Quote:
This year, there were even more reasons to attend than the terrific screenings: Kim and executive producer Fumiko Takagi spoke on a panel called DVD Productions: Collaborations with Film Archives; plus, we are working with the Cineteca (and the Charlie Chaplin estate) on restorations of some Chaplin films that we will be releasing over the next couple of years.

I just had am email from Criterion saying that they dont ship replacement cases internationally anymore, so the first post on this page may need updating

Is anyone able to help me get a replacement case for The Man Who Fell To Earth?

Well I recently sent a disc to them, but I have not recieved the replacement disc yet.. I emailed mulvaney@criterion.com with my problem and I was sent a standard email about what to try and where to ship the disc if that didn't resolve the issue.

Still no Amazon pre-order for Merry X-mas Mr Lawrence ... perhaps Criterion's trying to generate more biz on their own website ... new disks are normally up on Amazon within two weeks of announcement.

As far as the newsletter clue not being blue:

From their facebook page: "We think maybe the faraway gnu is inwardly blue, but doesn't want to show it in front of the camera."

So do their prices fluctuate online when the sale starts?

I am planning on getting:

Criterion Collection: Vivre Sa Vie [Blu-ray] -- $35.99.
Criterion Collection: Walkabout [Blu-ray] -- $35.99.
Criterion Collection: Complete Monterey Pop Fest -- $62.99.

$134.97 total * 0.50 (Discount) = $67.49 * 0.90 (AAA Discount) = $60.74.

$60.74 * 1.0625 (MA Sales Tax) = $64.54.

Does this look right? Do you think I'll get a better deal at the store? I have an AAA discount and that can only be used online correct?

I am going to go to the store anyways to see if I can find Pierrot Le Fou, but for the rest I think my best bet would be to order online and pick up in store for best deal.

I'd wait for Amazon. They will most likely match those (single disc at least) at 19.99 or less (between 15-19). No tax and no shipping cost.

8.75 sales tax in CA :\ But that still wont keep me from buying about 30 Criterions during the sale

Also someone posted on the their Facebook that IFC picked up distribution for Gasper Noe's Enter The Void....I really hope Criterion puts that out on blu

"Inwardly blu(e)" could mean "high definition master" and "but doesn't want to show it" could mean DVD... like how it's HD but then seen on a compressed DVD.

I rented Close-Up on NetFlix, but it didn't "grab" me, as much as I thought it might...I might have to give it a second rental/viewing.

I JUST received Everlasting Moments from NetFlix today and hope to watch it tomorrow night. I'm trying to rent as many titles as I have possible interest in purchasing from B & N next week...though from the reviews and feedback from others, I've got a feeling that I will likely buy Everlasting Moments.

I streamed the English version of The Leopard and was pretty satisfied with the film itself...I will likely buy this one as well, if for any other reason, than to watch it, in it's native language (Italian) and to see the supposed stark difference in PQ from the English version. Got a feeling that this one will be a beaut! It's a shame that the BD version is STILL not available to rent on NetFlix.

Hey CG...what's the MSRP on those DVDs?...I might consider a purchase next week, if I don't go broke on the blus.

Well on Criterion's site, you can pre-order them for $63.96 right now. Prob the cheapest they will get, since they won't come out until after the B&N sale ends.

I might wait to get that Chicago silent film from Flicker Alley until these come out so I can spend about $100 at once on all these silent dvds.
