Which badly needs a blu ray release. Glad to see more Stephen Frears, though.

RIP Leonard Nimoy.

Saddened to have to post this. Leonard Nimoy has passed away today at the age of 83. He was one of my favorite actors and artists in my life. Whether it was his acting, music, photography and writings, the world has lost a great talent. Captain Spock, may you truly live long and prosper.

“We are assembled here today to pay final respects to our honored dead. And yet it should be noted, in the midst of our sorrow, this death takes place in the shadow of new life, the sunrise of a new world; a world that our beloved comrade gave his life to protect and nourish. He did not feel this sacrifice a vain or empty one, and we will not debate his profound wisdom at these proceedings. Of my friend, I can only say this: Of all the souls I have encountered in my travels, his was the most… human.” - Captain James T. Kirk, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan

It's HD on iTunes, so a master exists somewhere. Distributed by Warner I think, so might get a BD at some point.

Received and watched my Salo Blu-Ray from Criterion. I really liked the film. The transfer is very good. It is not perfect and I would love to see its grain structure after a 4k scan, but who cares. Such luxury problems!

Probably one of the easiest clues Criterion has given us. I immediately thought of this movie when I saw it.

I was fearing this news since I heard of Leonard Nimoy's hospitalization earlier this week, and am saddened that it came to be so.

I bought the Blu-ray set of all three seasons of the original Star Trek series about three months ago. I really ought to shove everything else in my still-unwatched stack off to the side and plow through these three seasons to relive some glorious childhood memories of watching the TV reruns.

I always liked Leonard Nimoy's villainous turn in the 1978 version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

That's a great film. I think this was his second most memorable role in any movie aside from his character of Spock. And yes, you ought to go ahead and spend a good month (or two) watching all those classic episodes of 60s Trek. I did this many many years ago as this was my very first blu-ray purchase (the 3 seasons of Star Trek TOS). I had a feeling Nimoy was close to death because I too saw that recent news of his hospitalization visit. I foresaw this happening but was hoping he'd make it to his 84th birthday (next month). But his time had come... and now he's been beamed up into space to join Scotty and McCoy.

Sad to hear. Looks like it's a 'Star Trek' RiffTrax marathon kind of weekend.

I'll also miss his denture-y voice of wisdom as the announcer on one of my favorite PC game series, 'Civilization'.

I just listened to my Mr. Spock: Music from Outer Space LP (yes, on Vinyl) in remembrance.

I'm going to be blasphemous to Spidey, but I'm going to pretend Petra Von Kant's bitter tears are for Nimoy. Watching my BD tonight. I'm going through the supplements first.

I've heard great things about My Beautiful Laundrette, so I'll probably check it out whenever it's released.

Every month, I see that the Before series by Linklater are a likely possibility for the future. If released, it will almost certainly be a box set. That being the case, does anyone think Waking Life would be included, as it shows some of the further tales of Jesse and Celine?

I'd give that about a .5% chance.

Yeah, that was definitely a top five Columbo and for me one of the highlights of his career. When I hear his name my thoughts basically roam from Spock to Columbo to In Search Of and then they meander off all over the place including making the indirect leap to listening to Deteriorata (a spoof of Desiderata) on the Dr Demento show in the mid 70s.

I decided that there's no time like the present to start revisiting these episodes.

I just finished watching the pilot episode, "The Cage", and am now about to start going through the Season One episodes in order of production.

I became more emotional than I expected when I saw Spock utter the first words of that pilot episode.

I am proud of you, my son.

I might have to revisit all the original Star Trek films with the original cast soon again. Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home is a particularly positive and refreshing movie.

He was fantastic...thanks for the reminder..adding it to my Nimoy marathon watchlist. Plan on watching all the TOS movies, plus the reboot, and favorite Spock-centric episodes. I'd watch Body Snatchers but haven't gotten that in my collection just yet..on the wishlist.

Why is this BD so expensive, I know it's oop but is there something else about this particular film? I've never heard of any DVD/BD costing this much. Have any of you seen it?
