What i was trying to say is that while it will probably end up being released in the future by them, from what i heard on the live feed, those posts are exaggerating unless they are not based on the live feed i saw.

, anyway i found some news that it is going to be released on blu by MoC on UK around Q2 or Q3 this year.

I actually found the picture quality kind of charming due it being shot in 16mm.

This is definitely the next Kurosawa I would love to see upgraded. Of course there are also Ikiru, Red Beard and Stray Dog.

The addiction continues. Just ordered the Thief blu ray. I'm split though between ordering Time Bandits, Dazed and Confused, or Repo Man next. I WANT THEM ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

The only Kurosawa I own is High and Low. All of his samurai stuff I've seen I haven't cared for enough to watch a 2nd time.

It's definitely an interesting movie. It presents Christ in a very human light - what if he had doubts about his mission, what if he didn't want to die for his cause? Inspired film from Scorsese who felt deeply on the subject, and a great performance from Willem Dafoe. Well worth watching.

I'd like to see some Varda on Criterion in 2015 (and I suspect she is the next big French filmmaker up). I got the French complete oeuvre box-set for Xmas, which is a more lavish affair than the sort of thing Criterion do (it includes lots on in-box physical extra bits, like stencils, celluloid strips and a Varda doll), but I'd love to see the films in HD. That being said, the DVD quality is really good, and with a number of the films being shot on 16mm and DV tape it's not as noticeable as it might be with some other films. Interestingly all of the on-disc content is subtitled for English speaking audiences too, which is rare for French box-sets.

Listen Up Philip was one of my favourites of last year, I was so pleased when I heard that MoC were handling it in the UK. I hope they pick up Alex Ross Perry's earlier films too.

There's a good UK disc, so there's no reason why Criterion couldnt upgrade it.

I'm just curious, have all the special features been announced for the MoC release of Fellini Satyricon? I was waiting to see how it compared with the criterion release in that area before deciding which one to purchase. I realise the MoC will have a booklet while the criterion will have a leaflet.

I don't know much about the Criterion process of selection/production, but is it likely Mulholland Dr. will get a release at some point? I know it seems no. 1 on everyone's wish lists.
