And here we go!

Just used the B&N web site to reserve an in-store pick up of "M." There is a Barnes and Noble right across the street from my office, so taking more than a few trips there won't be any problem. And last November with the sale, I was able to use the $5 off coupon every single time, I just had to buy them one disc at a time and make multiple trips across the street.

I entered a bet at work for the world cup, picking teams out of a hat. I finished 13 points ahead, each point worth (one) $20 blu-ray. Thanks to BN, I'll be adding 13 Criterions to my collection.

Hopefully you don't go too crazy. I spent nearly $2,000 during the last sale.

Btw..."Red Balloon" is going for $3 on Wal-Mart (doesn't have the White Mane though). I believe on the B&N sale, the double feature went for $6.99 last time.

Wow you beat me big time. Very First Criterion 50% off Sale they had I spent over 1,300.00 and I used a 25% off coupon on every single purchase. I took a few friends with and we hit all the area locations multiple times. I saved so much money with that coupon etc. Esp on the box sets. Several people told me I was getting stuff for free haha.

October release guesses?

You can bet your bottom dollar Seven Samurai won't be one of them because Criterion hates those of us who like the film and really want it on Blu-Ray. The rest of the remaining Amazon leaked titles will probably be a long ways off too because again, Criterion likes to screw with its customers and overcharge for the same thing that would probably be 30-40% cheaper if any other company had the rights to their movies.

I know I'm alone and I am not trying to start an argument or a flame war, I just want to express my opinion that I hate Criterion and pretty much everything they stand for. They put out good quality stuff for the most part but then charge up to troposphere levels for their stuff and while I do own several Criterion dvd's/blu-rays, but I've never bought one new from a store because I'm not gonna pay $40 for a 1 disc dvd release no matter what the movie is because there's not one movie on this planet that's worth that price.

Heads up, everybody. Criterion just annouced via twitter that the sale starts today!

From their feed: The Barnes & Noble sale begins RIGHT NOW; 50% off all Criterion Blu-rays and DVDs until August 1st! http://www.barnesandnoble.com/holida....asp?pid=31880

Alrighty then, no offense but it sounds like Criterion just isn't for you. Supply and demand for an outstanding product costs money.

Fyi, most of their pre-orders on Amazon are $26-27 with free shipping ...

I don't see the discounted price ... I'm new to the B&N racket.

I think I might have recommended it as well Beta...during our conversation about Yellow Submarine.

It is a great film...one that I saw when it was first released back in the US cinemas...I was a much younger guy back then.

Glad you like it...unless you and I find an all region player, this is another title that we'll be unable to purchase on BD.

Anyone here either have a player to sell and/or know the souce of a good one to purchase?

Thanks!

Someone must have forgotten to tell B&N, because they are still regular price on the web...

That's what I'm hoping for ...

It appears Criterion jumped the gun on B&N with the tweet.

They haven't in the past. Amazon has lowered their prices on a select number of titles, but not matched.

I hear ya Pat!

I've already got (6) titles on hold for me at the B & N store (had them put aside for me Saturday night...they'll hold them for three days) and I have (2) more titles ordered and to be delivered to that same store.

I forgot about the other titles coming out the week of the 20th...this could get expensive.

I have to do my best to restrain myself, so I'm imposing a self-inflicted $500 budget for this sale..... may have been more, but I just stroked a check for my last C.C. bill, and realize that if I keep going like this, my wife might intervene

That's a link from the last sale last year. Wait until tomorrow for the sale.

P.S., I'm not even going to reply to that Seven Samurai crap a page back.

After all this time waiting for this sale, I don't really feel like spending alot of money right now. I just don't. Seeing August releases like the Silents, September's 4 blu-rays, maybe some Chaplin this year, hopefully the New Hollywood set, maybe Night of the Hunter, and Kino's yet to be announced releases, I just don't feel like spending money right now. I'll prob get 2-3 releases in this sale.
