Granted, this is all moot if an eventual* Criterion release is centred around a different cut of the movie.

As it stands a custom Criterion cover would seemingly suffice, given it's that all-important "C" that seems to be desired!

* For what it's worth I do actually think TOL will eventually come to Criterion, either in it's theatrical cut or in some other form. Hell, an idea might be for Criterion to wait and release it alongside Voyage Of Time.
Oh would be awesome as alongside Voyage of Time!

I like the original artwork though :P so not so fussed, id be happy if they sued that artwork, I just want that extended cut. Would also be nice to have the film in my Criterion collection rather than my standard blurays :P but that's just me being silly haha

Yes, and enjoyed it very much. It isn't so much like Imamura's early stuff. More of a procedural with some character exploration.

The Criterion Collection just shared the teaser trailer for Paolo Sorrentino's new film, Youth, which will be premiering at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival.

YOUTH - La Giovinezza di Paolo Sorrentino, il teaser trailer - YouTube
YES!

Wonder if it will be as good as The Great Beauty, which for me is flawless (well ignoring those CGI birds :P).

So excited!

I haven't seen any of his other stuff, but his films really remind me of Terence Malicks films...

If even a couple of those happen, I'll be a happy camper.

My wishlist is:

Mulholland Drive
The Kid
Wim Wenders Road Trilogy
Kwaidan
La Chienne

It might interest the folks here that Carlotta have announced that they're bringing the new 2K restoration of Jacques Rivette's legendary 12-hour opus Out 1 to the US at the end of 2015. No word if they also have home video rights.

And Cinelicous will be releasing Agnès Varda's Kung-Fu Master and Jane B. by Agnès V.! The former is brilliant - maybe my favourite Varda film out of those I've seen.

came in here to see if we were doing this yet ....

Here's my demands this month...

Au Hasard Balthazar
The American Friend
The Fugitive Kind
The Hit
Homicide

Also, think they should bring out the War trilogy sooner than later, I just got the BFI set and it looks ridiculously good.

Interesting tale. It was an upgrade from the DVD.

I'm pretty sure Sony has already restored it, because it played at the NY Film Festival either last year or the year before IIRC.

Well, it is restored since a European Bluray has been released last year.
