I got Tout(e) Varda over Xmas. It's a beautiful box-set, with even the supplements all featuring subtitles for English-language audiences too, which is rare for French box-sets. It's a shame that it isnt available on Blu-ray, but I'm happy with the DVDs.

Aha, one of your David Manners films! I like it too. Fascinating film about the "Lost Generation." I'm a fan of Richard Barthelmess' early '30s films like this one, Heros For Sale, The Finger Points, etc.

Wishlist for tomorrow (not including upgrades):

The Age of Innocence
Cyrano (1990)
Indochine
Farewell to my Concubine
Raise the Red Lantern
Death in Venice

Tree of Life (yes, yes, yes, I know....)

Of course, nothing will happen of these, not even in 2-3 years I assume, because i have bad luck..

I agree, though I don't think EVERYTHING is supposed to look Blue (and it doesn't, even on the Criterion disc). Blue is used for the most part to symbolize her past (or whatever other theme you want to insert here, ie. regret, loss, etc) and is used very specifically in the film (almost Too specifically, maybe too on the nose).

It's just interesting cuz growing up with the Miramax discs I always thought she was bravely and successfully moving past the accident and the criterion transfer makes it very obvious she is still haunted by it. I just wonder which is the "correct" look of the film (ie. How it appeared at the 1993 Venice film festival).

I wouldn't mind if Criterion announced their own Dreyer Box Set (with all the BFI stuff + Vampyr) before the BFI set is released.

If you're region free it's a requirement to post the other regions' offerings.

Middle 3 would be a quick order if presented.

All the others it'd be better for a Criterion release.
Yeah, I know.
But i would love a Criterion release possibly with some extras, and not a hideous-photoshopped cover.

I can't imagine Two Days, One Night not being announced tomorrow.

Also, what is the consensus regarding Burroughs: The Movie? August?

I wonder if Criterion will release these on Blu-ray. It would be awesome if they released them in a boxset like Zatoichi.

I'm not region free (by choice, because I'm already spending too much money on Blu-rays).

I have the Italian region free Blu-ray of Gilda and it looks great, but I'd like a Criterion edition with extras extras extras!

I also own the region free French Pathe edition of Le Samouraļ, and, quite frankly, the picture quality of that disc sucks so hard that its lips have friction burns on them.

The old Criterion DVD of Le Samouraļ is the way to go for now, but I want a suitable upgrade to Blu-ray via Criterion as well.

I had also heard this about the French blu. It doesn't have English subs either, correct?

Afternoon all.. been a while but popping back in and hope to get back in the swing of things. Not going to speculate about tomorrow's annoucement, but want to say how happy I am about my recent additions.

My awesome wife and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary this week and she got me three Criterions! I got Eating Raoul, Two-Lane Blacktop, and Odd Man Out! Super excited about all of these and can't wait to watch.... though my wife said she wants to watch them with me, so not watching tonight. But hey, it's awesome that she got them!

I'm pretty sure they'll release these on Blu. I hope they decide to do a big Kazuo Koike adaptation box set with Lady Snowblood 1&2, Hanzo the Razor 1-3, and Lone Wolf and Cub 1-6 (if they have these.)
