I have a fairly large Criterion collection but July is an 0/6 month for me. I tend to buy more of the culty Criterion titles (Scanners, Eraserhead, Naked Lunch, any Polanski title, etc). and July's releases do nothing for me. I'm not a Wes Anderson fan at all. The only title of interest to me is The Killers and I would rent that first or try and catch it on TCM. As for titles I'm looking for, they include: Mulholland Drive, The Brood, One Eyed-Jacks, The Tenant, After Hours.

"The Black Stallion" may be interesting. Janet Maslin's review in The NY Times states:

[...] When the horse peers out to sea from atop a high cliff, as the camera sweeps around him to a trumpeting score, he has all the magnificence of a new Buick atop a promontory in Monument Valley.

On the beach, the horse gallops and the movie crawls. [...]

Maybe it should have been an old VW bug atop the promontory?

I'd like to limit my purchases over the next few months to limited editions, limited-availability titles, and such. Fortunately, though, I've got plenty of good Criterion titles from this month coming to me from Amazon, along with the Samuel Fuller flicks.
I hear you. My unwatched pile just keeps growing, plus I find that I spend much less time watching movies during the summer. Still, there are a few upcoming releases I'm really looking forward to, so maybe I'll just semi-retire.

You get a pass for your SN. I was fortunate to see Dylan back in November. Great show.

Looks like The Big Chill is being re-released in a standard Blu-ray edition.

Im a 1 for 5 (unless the Killers is inferior to the Arrow release)

I still would want Mulholland Drive even though I did get the import blu Id rather have/support Region A USA releases..
Id also would love a Criterion release of Great Expectations even though I did get the blu ray import..
I want upgrades to Equinox, Fiend without a Face, Carnival of Souls , the Devil and Daniel Webster, Thief of Bagdad, Kwaidan

I love horror / fantasy / Melodramas Film Noir - I cant say they havent hit these areas but not enough for my tastes, but I suppose my wallet is okay with it . Ive been eagerly waiting for In A Lonely Place..
Here are just some titles on my wishlist - they may or may not get access to due to rights issues but just to name some...
Too Late for Tears
The Mysterians
Rodan
King Kong vs Godzilla US and Japanese versions
Mothra
The Navy vs the Night Monsters
Day of the Triffids
Raw Deal
Watchers
Quatermass 2 Enemy from Space
Dr. Mabuse films from the 1960s
The Bat (silent) The Bat Whispers, and the Bat (the Vincent Price version)
Dead Reckoning
DOA
Midnight Warning
Trilogy of Terror II
Virgin of Nuremberg
I Wake Up Screaming
The Dark Corner

I wont mention all the Warner titles because they will do HD releases themselves (I would think anyway)

I dont mind their foreign films at all because it gives me a chance to see something I wouldnt otherwise give any thoughts about, and have added some to my collection. I have my preferences but Im certainly open to other films out there if they peak some interest

Are these the only films to be re-released?

1. The Night of the Hunter (plastic case for existing version) = 04/08/14

2. Foreign Correspondent (BD only + plastic case for existing version) = 10/07/14

3. The Leopard (plastic case for existing version) = 11/04/14

4. The Big Chill (BD only + smaller plastic case for existing version) = 07/07/15

Oh, no!
I wanted the bluray only edition and now I'm stuck with the DVDs.

Nope.
I have a thing like an OCD if you like, by which I don't like having discs I won't be using like EVER...*
If the double edition and the Bluray only edition were released at the same time, and the Bluray only was much more expensive than the double edition, I'd still buy the Bluray only one!
In case you tell me to give the DVDs, I'd tell you that I also don't like having empty places in the Bluray case.
When I buy a Bluray I want to keep it as it is and not make custom versions!
(still feeling uncomfortable that I gave my DVD of Snowwhite, although i would never watch it)

*It's one of the reasons also I still can't bring myself to buy the Superman box since I don't want Superman Returns.

You, sir, are correct.

It should also be noted that both The 400 Blows and Breathless were re-released in Dual Format sets (BD + DVD).

I wish Polaroid was around to tell you that this behavior is not OCD. (I'm not kidding with that, btw, folks.)

My sympathy for your "condition" probably lies at the bottom of my "your tugging my heartstrings" scale - even farther down than the sympathy I have for people who complain about the size of digipacks and even farther still - less than the guy who panics because he didn't receive an order confirmation email.

I would love that too, but i don't think it is going to happen, my local walmart started to support blu-rays very strongly a few years back, but now it's almost full of dvd's and very few blu-rays (mostly for new stuff).

Walmart doesn't carry Criterion titles, but still it might be an indication that dvd's are here to stay, and with Criterion move back to separate releases i doubt they are willing to loose that market.

There! Now who was belittling lists...!

Here's another. An example of some of the more-plebeian titles that might appeal more to some folks than, say My Winnipeg or My Beautiful Laundromat:

Ryan's Daughter; The Horseman on the Roof; The Nights of Cabiria; Indochine; The Lovers on the Bridge; Robin and Marian; The Sheltering Sky; The Crying Game; A Very Long Engagement; Vatel; Lonely Are the Brave; McCabe and Mrs. Miller, and yes, The Incredible Lightness of Being, The Day of the Jackal, and of course Roman Holiday, to name a very few.

"The Killers" looks like an impressive package. And "The Black Stallion", particularly the cinematography, looks very interesting. Could someone please advise, via a spoiler (I don't mind being 'spoiled') whether or not this has a happy ending? My generally thick-skin turns to cellophane when it comes to animals and I don't need to see the horse break a leg rounding the final turn or being 'canned' at the conclusion of the big race. I'm still trying to get over "Old Yeller".
