I seem to remember that Criterion has the rights to 18 Satyajit Ray films, though sadly not Distant Thunder or Days and Nights in the Forest - two of my personal favourites.

I've haven't seen all of Kiarostami's work but what I have seen I've really enjoyed. I like the cadence of films and the way scenes are set-up.

Like the beginning of [B]Like Someone in Love[/B (Where the girl is speaking, we don't see her but we see what she sees) or the scene in Certified Copy where we think we are watching the older couple quarrel but it's revealed to be the man arguing with his daughter on the phone. I enjoy the restraint and the pacing of the films, too. I find his films relaxing. I can't say enough about Close-up and Certified Copy. Two of my favorites in the entire collection.

That's a good one to keep an eye on deepdiscount/dvdplanet sales for. I didn't adore it quite as much as Certified Copy and Like Someone In Love but I still really enjoyed it.

I would guess that RED RIVER and PICNIC AT HANGING ROCK will lose the books when they get re-issued as Blu-ray only. (Although, RED RIVER and PICNIC AT HANGING ROCK already have DVD only releases, so it'll be interesting to see what happens to the dual-format titles that already have a DVD only release.)

I'm wondering what is going to happen to the ZATOICHI box. I'd guess that it will be awhile before it needs to be reprinted, but when that happens will they just keep it dual-format? Even if they separated it and dropped most of the book's content, it would still need to be in a digi or have a slipbox to hold the Scanovo cases (3 3-disc for Blu, and 6 3-disc for DVD) because of the number of discs.

Imagine if sometime down the line they did do this for certain directors who have most of their filmography on blu with them? Like a Bergman: Complete Collection or something. That would be amazing. I'm still really excited for what they have in store for Wim Wenders and the films they've been working on of his. It seems like a big box set but I wonder how many films it will include. Wenders' The American Friend is sorely underrated and could use a definitive home video presentation.

It will be a very sad day when they stop printing Zatoichi as a boxset, its stunning, yes it has slight flaws but its stunning.

They should still sell but just add case version for people to swap out for.

Thomas Vinterberg "confessed" to having covered a window during the shooting of one scene, which is a breaking of two Dogme rules - no bringing props onto the set, and no use of special lighting.

I did not care for it. It struck me as something that could have been great if it were slightly better written and some of the characters were more likeable. Hurt was the only one I kinda got on board with, but I totally agreed with Hunter's character's reasons for disliking him in the beginning. Not horrible, but not great. 2.5/5
