That's a possibility but I don't really see why it would need a special spine number.

It doesnt need one, but Criterion loves to give Wes Anderson "special" (or even) numbers since Life Aquatic.

Life Aquatic- 300
Bottle Rocket- 450
Darjeeling Limited- 540 (reverse of Bottle)
Fantastic Mr Fox- 700

Terrific month!

I'm in for Two Days, One Night, Day for Night and Night and the City.

Too bad these aren't being released in July!

Could the soldiers in the New Year's Drawing represent the French Lieutenant's Woman

If it turns out to be Moonrise Kingdom, we need to get at least 6 releases next month, but counting they always do at least one upgrade, 7 seems a bit much, unless they release a box set, or skip a spine.

Edit: Ah forgot it doesn't count since it was already announced, so it is probably not a stretch, there has been other months with 6 titles i believe, and we will be entering the late months were they start releasing box sets.

I feel like 775 would be just as much of a "cool" or "good" spine number as 777 would be; plus, that seems a little bit more plausible.

Night and the City = my favorite Criterion announcement of the year

(doing cartwheels around my apartment right now)

I guess that I can also part ways with my Fox Blu-ray of Dressed to Kill.

The other releases are cool, but they're not Night and the City cool.

Yeah, that part isn't surprising. But happier than The Killers or Ride the Pink Horse?

I gotta say, I did not see that coming.

A combination of things. Night and the City not necessarily a better movie than The Killers, Odd Man Out, or Ride the Pink Horse, but it's an indication that we'll see more Jules Dassin American noirs on Blu-ray (The Naked City, Thieves' Highway, Brute Force), and I love me some Gene Tierney in high definition.

I also like it when film noir brushes with sports (boxing, wrestling, etc.).

Two goodies for me this month - I love Night and the City , so thats a no-brainer for me, and Dressed to Kill - I might or should be retiring the MGM release now..

There was a body double for the shower scene in Dressed to Kill?

This is worse than when I found out that Santa Claus is not real.

I'm still in for the Criterion Blu-ray, though.

It seems that Criterion has continued where MGM has stopped last year; giving a 4K upgrades to some of the releases from their library. Though, it's highly likely that MGM is providing the CC with these remasters.

So far we have got The Black Stallion and Dressed to Kill. Leaving Las Vegas and Midnight Cowboy will hopefully be upgraded soon, as well.

As for the other expectations/prediticions?

I expect to see The Silence of the Lambs and Blue Velvet coming down the line. Straw Dogs too, altough it's techically a Disney title.

Perhaps, The Graduate, Carrie, Raging Bull...or Missing in Action?

Additionally, Sid and Nancy, maybe To Live and Die in LA or Manhunter.

I would have if they didn't just do it themselves. I wish Criterion did it again.
