I'm really not sold on it being The Man Who Wasn't There.

Yeah I was just looking at images of that myself. I don't think that's it, it definitely looks more like a trench coat than anything. I was trying to recall if he ever wore a trench, like when driving, etc..

Dont they tend to include some form of blue imagery when they hint an upgrade? The only example that they did not, that comes to mind, is The Vanishing

I haven't seen the film, but is this a trenchcoat he's wearing?

I agree completely with the Missing guess. Another Costa-Gavras makes more sense than the Coen Bros. Great job filmmusic!

here's another wild guess i found on CriterionForum from justeleblanc:

CODE (coat) UNKNOWN

also someone mentions Kino no longer holds the rights of that.

When I first saw the drawing, I thought it looked like the coat a firefighter might wear. But Missing ... wow, that would be great! I've never seen the film and have been hoping Criterion might upgrade it to blu-ray.

It makes sense for sure... Costa-Gavras is getting the Criterion blu-ray treatment lately... and I'll bet Z won't be far behind.

I see this dash always in between in his name and I don't understand why. I guess it's just an aesthetic thing.
Is he credited that way in his films?
I was wondering if foreigners (I mean foreigners to me that I'm Greek) understand that Costa is his first name and Gavras is his surname.

According to a MOMA retrospective, he himself added the hyphen to "create confusion"

Of all the guesses so far, Code Unknown definitely clicks the most for me. It works the best in terms of the type of word play that Criterion tends to use, it's the 15th anniversary of the film, we know Kino lost the rights to it, and the kicker? Binoche wears a trench-style coat in the movie
