I think Seven Samurai will be it for me. The Darjeeling Limited was OK, but Life Aquatic is the only Wes Anderson movie I'd pay Criterion prices for.

Another robust BD month with a very nice Bergman and Kubrick surprise. I have only viewed those releases once a while ago. May have to revisit the Kubrick before the release. Thankfully, we can finally we can put the Hausu, Kurosawa and Anderson talk to a rest. Too bad B&N doesn't have a sale every month. The September and October releases are stellar and plentiful. The wife is not going to be happy.

Bummed that Antichrist will not be out. Excited for Darjeeling, my personal favorite Wes Anderson, and Seven Samurai. Going to check out House and The Magician and see if they're worth the buy.

Really looking forward to another Bergman film in HD. I will be buying every single BD release for October, I know Darjeeling isn't a Wes Anderson best but I will still buy it.

I, too, will be buying every October release. I currently own every Criterion Collection BD that has been released and don't plan to stop now.

You must have a lot of replay value time to own them all.

I wish I had more time to replay them. I'm a collector at heart (and, well, in practice) and once I started with the Criterion BDs, I decided to just keep up with them and buy them all as they come out. Criterion puts so much time and care into their releases, and so far I haven't seen a single one I regretted purchasing.

Seven Samurai and Paths of Glory are no brainers. I'll pass on The Darjeeling Limited (which I thought was OK, but not good enough to own). I need to see House and The Magician.

Excited about the (long term) confirmation of Red River, too.

I'm bummed there's no blu-ray in sight for Royal Tenenbaums or Life Aquatic but Darjeeling Limited is good. Can't wait to get House and Seven Samurai also.

Seven Samurai will be a day one purchase, I don't care what the price is. I've been dying to own that movie period. I always put off getting the DVD, and then once I got my blu-ray player I just assumed it would be out sooner than later so I waited. Looks like the wait is almost over.

I'm pretty curious about the other releases too. Definitely will check some out. I might have to do some research now and see what some of them are about.

Like others have said, hopefully, there is another 50% off sale in November. If so, I will pick up all 5 then.

I don't think it's that. It runs everything else fine. In fact, the player is only about 8 months old. Should I maybe send Criterion an e-mail?

He didn't provide a link, but John posts solid info:

"We do hope to release RED RIVER in the near future, but it's not
currently on the production schedule. I would say a release within the next
2-3 years is a definite possibility!"

Why? Antichrist is not a horror-film, if your trying to connect it to halloween.

Actually, it kind of is. Atleast, I would concider it a horror film . Also, I thought it was Triers intention to make a genre horror pic when he decided to make this movie (but I might be mistaken)

Is anyone shocked that the next Bergman film they decided to release on Blu after Seventh Seal is the magician? I've been waiting a very long time for another Bergmam film and there were so many other amazing movies to choose from

That being said, I've never actually seen The Magician so I'll still be looking forward to it. You cant go wrong with more bergman and Sydow. How would you classify this movie? Is it anything like Seventh Seal and the Faith Triology?

Oh...... And I think that cover art looks amazing!

What?! Paths of Glory on Blu? I'm so happy right now . The other titles look great, too. Criterion has some strong months ahead, if you ask me. And then there's the B&N sale .
