Normally I obviously prefer the blu ray. But when the criterion dvds were being priced at $2.23 for Insomnia and $2.38 for Eraserhead I had to go for it. The blu ray discs for these movies had already jumped back to $30ish by that point.

Well, my point was that i wouldn't get a DVD even for free, if there was a Bluray of it (with much better quality of course). |

also, which disc contains a better presentation? Sony's DVD of Picnic (I realize that many probably haven't seen it) or Universal's Blu-ray of Marnie? Studio Canal's Blu-ray of Contempt or Criterion's DVD of Made in U.S.A.? suit yourself, but "i wouldn't get a DVD even for free" is a kind of blind faith mentality. |

i'm interested in the bluray first when it has better quality than the DVD. (for example i prefer the disney early DVDs than the Blurays of animation classics because the latter have been "restored" to death and they aren't films anymore! |

They could do anything that they wanted to. Granted, their customer service reputation is potentially sitting on a powder keg with this one. So, it is unlikely that they will screw people in such a way.

but if they send half the orders, their decision to not send the remaining half would not be on a whim - it would be because they caught their mistake. so the ones who have their orders fulfilled are "lucky" while the others should say, "oh, well.. gave it a shot." has nothing to do with being "fair."
