Hey who knows, maybe it will surprise me and be amazing - I will obviously see when released and take back what I say if I do like it, but come on... it looks awful.

I don't usually judge a film on the trailer though Also it hasn't had the best reviews lol
yes, yes... in that case - you are being naughty. anybody ever see the trailer for London Boulevard? 4 star trailer and a wretched film.

might be a cliché but it's true - don't judge a film on its trailer... or based on the face that appears on the side of the Criterion case, right P?

Coupon will only work on one item. Cheaper to wait for B&N's Criterion sale next month provided you have some patience.

Since we're talking about Criterion and anime, I think this would be right up at Criterion's alley:

'London Boulevard' Trailer HD - YouTube
Oh I know many films where the trailer is incredible and the film is a mess..

*cough* Prometheus *cough*

But still, you can't take Jellyfish Eyes seriously... the guys artwork is horrible, I know thats down to personal opinion but come on......... lol :P Even if he is a well known nd loved artist, doesn't make him a great film maker

And then you get trailers like this that don't represent the film AT ALL.

That artwork remind me of the stuff for Final Fantasy - Which I am mad about! I think Criterion should pickup Animatrix tbh.

The coupon can be used multiple times. Criterions will only be cheaper during the 50% off sale if you have a coupon.

The Decalogue!
The Graduate!
In Cold Blood!

I don't recall any of these being speculated, but some of the others I assumed were coming at some point (Welles).
I consider In Cold Blood to be the best film of 1967, bar none. I would be thrilled to see it get the Criterion treatment.

it doesn't NOT make him a potentially good filmmaker either just because you don't like his art. I glanced at it a bit. looks fine to me.

being a well known artist who went into film didn't really hurt Julian Schnabel either, btw..

As I said, I will see the film and if I am wrong I will take back what I say :P Its down to personal preference and opinion I guess!

The film just looks like something made by a university student lol >.<

Anyways... Why do we still have no Haneke in the collection!?

Angel's Egg was a collaboration between Mamoru Oshii and Yoshitako Amano, who was the main character and graphic designer of the Final Fantasy series until Final Fantasy VI. And Angel's Egg is a masterpiece.

Criterion will probably get them back and use Arrow's restoration like they did for Time Bandits. But the Arrow release will be very very hard to beat.
I may be mistaken, but I remember reading somewhere that Criterion got the rights back for the HandMade films they had released, which resulted in their Time Bandits release, and would result in the future releases of the other four titles (Long Good Friday, Mona Lisa, Withnail & I and How To Get Ahead In Advertising). I could be completely mistaken, though.

Not true...well, not for me, anyway. I tried to push one through but the following page came up with the dreaded "this coupon has already been redeemed" message.

As a non-member of B&N, this was a better deal for me than waiting 'til the sale. I got Watership Down shipped (incl. taxes) for $20.49 doing exactly what you suggested.

Thanks Namuhana!

I'm not a huge fan of Richard Brooks. He misfired on Lord Jim, too.
I just read your comment, after I posted my enthusiastic endorsement of In Cold Blood. Although we're in complete accord regarding Lord Jim, (yuk!) I think the direction and screenplay by Brooks for Blood were brilliant. He and his editor, Peter Zinner, managed to take a story that I was very familiar with, and still make it suspenseful, taut, and gripping. It really rattled my nerves at times.

From my viewpoint, In Cold Blood was also perfectly cast; the absence of any really big names (from a 1967 standpoint) gave it an air of authenticity. The other thing I love about the film is Conrad Hall's stark cinematography, which served the story extremely well.

If Criterion does add the film to the Collection, I hope they're able to snag interviews with Robert Blake and Scott Wilson, or even better, get them to record a commentary track.
