I do not have the right how to tell anyone how to feel or behave. I certainly have the right to share my opinion of people over-reacting.

I love to hear the announcements as much as anyone. A simple "That sucks." Sure. I'm with you! But...

"They need to pull their heads out of their asses!"
"Get their shit together!"
"Thanks for making me sit here refreshing!"

Please...

I do find it weird they posted a few hours earlier that they were going to be posting their announcements today. I wonder what changed?

But yes us fans of the company that do not get defensive when someone criticizes them are whining. Uh huh...
Nah. I didn't get defensive about anything you listed. Just when people get up in arms over an announcement being postponed a day, as if the company owes them something.

There's no need to get upset over it. It doesn't diminish the company in any way. You'll still get those films three months from now.

Just be patient. We'll be hearing the moans over the lack of Lynch, Cronenberg, etc. in no time.

Well, Criterions are 40% off in-store, and with your membership you'll get an extra 10% off. There are some coupon packets around, but they all expire on the 21st and they would've been mailed to you. Since you just signed up, there's no way you'll get those. So, I think you'll only be able to use your 10% off.

But even so, so what? It's not like a bank that promises you that they'll get back to you on your home loan application by such and such a date, and then don't. Or an employer who tells you that you're going to see a bump in pay on your next check, and then fails to deliver.

These are announcements for Blu-ray titles that won't be released for another three months! They are not life-changing announcements. They're just Blu-rays. Get a grip, people. I can understand disappointment, but folks around here act as if Criterion is doing this on purpose just to get you frothing at the mouth, and laugh at how silly you're being.
To me, it sounds like Criterion's policy is "On or around the 15th"

Again, just asking.

I can see that you're implying that it's not a problem if Criterion is late with their announcement because the releases are three months away. But someone could say the exact opposite thing for the exact same reason. Why can't they meet their deadline and announce their titles on the 15th when the releases are so far away?

Same for, "They're just blu-ray's".
Flip it; Yes, they're only blu-ray's, how can they not announce the list on the 15th? It's not the announcement of a new vaccine that takes years of clinical trials, where its difficult to know what day you'll go public.

Again, playing devil's advocate.

We're ok! Won't happen until the year 2027 unless Criterion follows the Greek Orthodox commemoration date which is unlikely. With attention-spans being what they are it probably won't be an issue.

Feel free. You could even spit *on* your Criterions. That'd show em.

The real whining and complaining should happen after the announcements are made when we get "Where's....?" and "Nothing for me again this month, Criterion is saving me a lot of money this year" or "I've never heard of these movies".

I prefer seeing that, which means those people are restrained and buy what they really need, than seeing posts of people feeling "compelled" to buy ALL of them (even if they have never ever heard of the movies) just because they have a C on the cover!

Well, it took me the better part of the day, but I finally went with Eating Raoul, and using the 20% off coupon it came up to just over $20, which I'm okay with. I don't generally like comedies (especially any mainstream comedy; they're almost never funny), but I do find Eating Raoul to be hilarious, and I've been wanting it for a while now.

I use classic film sites and, frankly, this particular thread to learn about those films I haven't heard of. Really, it doesn't happen that much. There are tons of them I haven't SEEN. But I've usually at least heard of them. Though, obviously, not always. And learning about and seeing new stuff is always a great feeling.

This is confusing on multiple levels. What Criterion does anyone really need? Why does it bother you that people buy them all?

Of course.
But if those same films were released by an X company, I have a feeling those that would surely buy them if they were Criterion, wouldn't care less.
I see it happen all the time in many things in life.
The "brand" and the "name" is what makes the difference.
