I did pick up a few more DVDs, though:
[Show spoiler]The 3 Films by Louis Malle set
The Friends of Eddie Coyle
Great Expectations
Oliver Twist
and The Essential Art House version of Lord of the Flies.

I plan to get The Red Shoes and Black Narcissus, next week. And I'm hoping to find an actual copy of the dual box of Yojimbo/Sanjuro. After that, I may wait for the Criterion sale in November before picking any more up for a while.
You can't just order online? With free shipping it's the same price for me without the hassle of searching through stores.

I save an extra 10% in the store and I don't have to deal with B&N's slow moving shipping process. I've combined both my Barnes & Noble trips with other trips, so far. So, I'll probably check one last store tomorrow, that's right next door to where I'll be going to see Inception.

I've picked up 14 Criterion blus, during the sale already. After I get Yojimbo/Sanjuro, maybe Everlasting Moments or Revanche and the two coming out next week, I can put off the others I don't have yet until the next sale.

today i picked up Walkabout (along with Gomorrah and Yojimbo/Sanjuro) and i thought i remembered hearing there was some sort of error or something and maybe mention of a replacement program for that title. am i imagining this? what was the issue if not so i know if mine is faulty or not..

i know i could probably find the info in this thread somewhere but its so long i wouldnt really know where to begin narrowing down the search.

I think there's a list of Sony and Panasonic blu-ray players the Walkabout disc won't play on.

ok so its just an issue with the disc playing in general, not something wrong or missing with the actual content? ill pop it in and make sure it spins, thanks!

People who have been having problems with it have mentioned that it skips around the 50 minute mark. Here's Criterion's post on it:

Someone went to my local B&N today and bought almost $400 worth of Criterions, mostly BDs. I was glad I had snagged The Leopard the day the sale started.

So far, I've only picked up The Leopard (BD) and The Exterminating Angel (DVD) during the sale, but I already owned most of the BDs that interested me. I guess they can announce Exterminating Angel on BD now (haha).

Was tempted to get Yojimbo/Sanjuro, but I have the DVD box set, and it's still in my backlog! I have a problem with double dipping for movies I never got around to watching the first time, although I'm sure they are good films. Has anyone else upgraded a DVD to Blu when they never even had a chance to watch the DVD?

Also, was eyeing Salo (the DVD). I'm curious about that one, but might not be the best blind buy...

Hooray for "Seven Samurai"!!

Anything by Kurosawa is good news. I'm a big fan of Westerns and his period pieces are perfect examples of the Japanese variation (especially "Yojimbo" and "Sanjuro" which serve as predecessors to the Clint Eastwood pics of the 60s).

Yeah, I like non "arthouse" stuff. But I rarely buy anything other than classic, arthouse, cult, B-movie, etc. I can rent the everyday Hollywood crap anytime I want. I like to own the ones I can't ride up the street and get anytime I want. I do buy new movies here and there.

Psycho is one I will get too prob. I don't want the Alien collection, but if they just release the first one alone, I'm in.

Really? I've always received my orders fairly quickly by mail from them. Plus my last few Criterion Blu orders were from Deep Discount and ANY other seller is faster than them. It took 12 and 14 days from shipment date to get my packages from DD.

I've run across a few posts here and there regarding issues with playing Days Of Heaven blu-ray. (Played okay on my Panny.) Unless you made all of them, you should definitely see what Criterion has to say. Probably should anyway.

What help do you need, Jedi? Get it! Decision made.

No one touches Rossellini, so grab all of his films while you're at it.

If you have any more decisions to make, let me know and I'll make 'em for you.

Just pre-ordered the 5 titles for October off Criterion's website. IMO this maybe the best month of releases I've seen. Pretty excited for them.
Haven't been to the Barnes and Noble sale...yet. Perhaps this weekend.

For some reason Hitckcock films have been pretty much ignored when it comes to Blu-Ray. He's probably my favorite Director. So far it seems only North By Northwest and soon Psycho of Hitckcock's films have made it to Blu. I'd love Criterion to release some of his work. The Birds would be nice to see on Blu before Michael Bay makes his garbage remake.

This would definately be one of the titles I'd get from B&N.

What's up CC, long time no see!

Why would you do that? Their prices are outrageous unless they have one of those 20 or 25% off sales. You can usually pre-order for a good deal les at other places.

Since no one on these forums ever seems to know where to find information, I'm gonna provide you with the link directly from the horse's mouth. I hope you find what you're looking for. Welcome aboard and good day, sir.

You're the one that's been absent and hiding, my friend. Nothing's been happening, anyway... new announcements (whoop-dee-do) and sales talk. That's about it.
