With all this suspense, I wouldn't mind if Criterion combined September, October, November and December releases all in today's announcement. Now that would be fun.

Well, December usually has 2 or 3 releases anyway...I'll have enough fun with all these releases to keep me preoccupied until next year's announcements. J/k.

Well I am annoyed.. this wait has caused me to do some impulse buying and I'm pretty skint now D: coudln't resist those films from Andrzej Zulawski. Stunning sets, I just see the word OOP and panic and have to get them and the films are incredible!

Or would try to persuade themselves to see it with an open mind...

You know, when you put it like that, it does sound kind of crazy.

After Hours (Geffen, WB)
Death In Venice
Blow Up

But tbh you do trust Criterion because of their reputation and what they do release - if they are to releases something it's usually for a really good/legit reason so you can justify it more when a company like Criterion, Moc, Arrow release them.

Although I question Eureka! as they do seem to support The Human Centipede :P

Criterion supports Sweet Movie and I think that is junk. I dread a BLU of that coming out, it will just be a wasted upgrade when something else deserved it more.

Sweet Movie is a lot better than Human Centipede much better filmmaking and acting, HC has so many flaws its unreal, its just a joke. At least Sweet Movie takes the transgressive genre seriously.

Im a HUGE fan of transgressive cinema, and HC aint it, its trying way to hard and it just faults in every way possible, its there to try shock a standard audience with cheap tricks... there is no depth to it at all.

And NOOOO I want Sweet Movie bluray so bad >.<!

Will Criterion ever get more aggressive about including UV codes? A few of their titles have it but it doesn't seem to be their policy to do it for most at this point.

Totally different!
eg. if Criterion announced tonight "Hercules in New York", the Criterion collectors would rush to buy it (or would try to persuade themselves to see it with an open mind since Criterion releases it and they might know better) because it is Criterion, but would otherwise mock such a release coming from another studio.
.
I get ya.
Having the name Criterion attached to it persuades people, on a conscious or subconscious level, to "like" it more.
Also what happens when hype leads some to blind buy a title. If you blind buy a blu, you're more likely to convince yourself that you made a good decision... So ya come in the forums and post, "Yeah, it was good. I'm happy with my blind buy", but in reality, had you seen it on cable, or even in theaters, you might not have bought said title

I don't recall Criterion ever including a UV code with a release. Do you have examples? I know there are few titles on VUDU but I don't think there are codes included with any of CC's releases.

Fanstastic list! I wouldn't subtract even one of those titles. But can we add one, please? ... Green for Danger? I've always read such wonderful things about it, and everytime it scheduled to be shown on TCM, my satellite reception gets messed up!
