I guess in general I just prefer when titles are centered then. I do prefer the lighter yellow color used in the revision however. The director tag does work better in the official above because everything is nice and centered. So ideally for me, I'd have the old cover, with a lighter yellow, and the Wes Anderson text at the bottom.. Neither option is bad though, just a matter of preference.

Yeah you can't please everyone, and we all see things differently ^^

If the title was entered at top, then I'm all for entering the second part in a much smaller font near bottom

It's funny though.
I thought Criterion covers didn't have directors' names, only to check right afterwards my Criterion titles to notice that ALL of them have them!
So, they're OK! They can add it if they want!

(But i would choose a different font than the title's. It's too much fancy and characteristic to reuse it for the director)

Some of these things are contractual, the wording may be insisted upon by the rights-holders.

Although there's not much they can add to the director-supervised UK double-bill of Tetsuo 1&2...other than making it playable for region A folks.

Weird. With Kieslowski being my favorite filmmaker, Blind Chance is right up there with Three Colors and Veronique to me. Much stronger than The Scar or No End (although the opening of No End is fantastic), and much more in line with Kieslowski's running theme of chance encounters. Camera Buff is the most famous though, but it all depends on what HD masters are ready to go.

I assume if Criterion releases The Decalogue after the restoration is finished (and they own the rights to all the Kino titles) they will box it with A Short Film About Love & A Short Film About Killing.

Too many to list for me.
Most sublime moment was definitely Ravi Shankar. Just looking at the audience transfixed on this man was breathtaking. I enjoyed The Who as well (Pete destroying his guitar)! And of course Jimi (burning his guitar).

Will definitely pick up Blind Chance. Look forward to that one.

I wasn't amazed by the announcements but that's okay, not every month has to satisfy every single fan entirely, it's just not always gonna happen.

I do desperately want the following before 2015 is over though:

- Le Samourai
- Chimes at Midnight
- Othello (although if Beatrice Welles didn't release the rights to use the 1950's original cut alongside the 90's cut, I'd toss up whether or not to buy it, because that is fundamentally wrong)
- A couple more silents
- A couple more noirs
- A couple more screwball comedies

If I may quote a post from the MK thread, thanks to tehdudee:

That is just so nice - I'd rather have that than the one that's on offer!

I wanted to ask:
Do you ALWAYS give a 2nd chance to highly acclaimed films that you didn't like?
I watched yesterday Mr. Hulot's holiday (it was my first Tati) and honestly it was quite a chore to sit through it.
I thought I was a bit prepared by having seen the animation film The Illusionist.
But I feel I may be missing something.

Especially, when I remember other times that I changed my mind completely on 2nd viewing of films that I didn't like the first time and I was bored with them.

Well, comedy is probably the most personal of things so Tati just might not be for you. It may seem backward, but maybe you should watch some of the special features first to get an insight into how you should be watching - one of the things with Tati is about the how the sound effects interact with both the on and off screen action.

Actually, there's a good video on the Criterion site which I think really illuminates Tati's style of comedy:

Playtime - Anatomy of a gag

I was fortunate enough to see The Who a few years later ('73) at one of the first concerts in the then brand new Capital Centre. Good times.

Thanks.
Yes, I guess I'm not into it.
But I love some slapstick Hollywood comedies.

If someone needs an explanation on how to watch a comedy, I'd say it's just not for them. Nothing wrong with not liking it but I'd say no amount of special features will change the fact that something just works for you or just doesn't.

Give it another chance. There's some real comic gems in that film like
[Show spoiler]the wet tire that becomes a funeral wreath or the folding boat that causes a Jaws-like panic on the beach.
I also love the way he gets laughs from sounds like the swinging door in Mr. Hulot's Holiday or
[Show spoiler]the fountain in Mon Oncle and then there's another door sequence that's genius in Playtime.
The Hulot films aren't slapstick but more subtle with the physical comedy so that may affect how much you enjoy or don't enjoy them.
