Paths of Glory! that's awesome. great movie.

and I haven't seen darjeeling yet but I want to quite badly, glad it's getting criterion treatment.

also, for the BN sale

picked up

yojimbo/sanjuro set
Hunger
Wings Of Desire
Mystery Train
Stagecoach

gonna be going back next week, hopefully I can afford the rest of the flicks I don't have on blu yet.

as long as they have announced any of their dvds as discontinued in the last few weeks I won't pick up any of them.

Ahhhhh.
I've been gone too long and hate coming back to 20 pages to go through.

Oh well, pretty excited about October's releases.
I'm about to head to B&N and see if they have any of the Buńuel titles that are going OOP.

Can someone explain to me the difference between Jimi Plays Monterey, which I do not own, and The Jimi Hendrix Experience: Live at Monterey, which I do own? understand the Monterey Pop documentary as I have seen it on Palladia.

Thanks.

Just got M () in the mail and picked up Stagecoach today.

I've always wanted to check out Criterion, but it always seemed like a high price for a movie that (most of the time) I'd never heard of. Well, with B&N's sale, and after browsing Criterion's website to figure out which blu's I had most interest in--not to mention B&N's current stock--I took these home with me today.

In The Realm of the Senses
Last Year At Marienbad
M
Revanche
The Seventh Seal
The Wages of Fear
Wings of Desire
Vivre Sa Vie

I really wanted Repulsion, too, unfortunately they sold it between my B&N stock check yesterday and this afternoon. Alas and oi vey. But as if to make up for it, I found the Criterion release of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button on blu for about $10 when I went to a closing Blockbuster. They come, of course, in the regular DVD case, so I transferred the movie into a regular PS3 game case... which has it looking close to the same dimensions as the custom Criterion blu cases.

Already watched The Seventh Seal, which really impressed me. The pacing of the movie is different from most "modern" movies, but it really has a great sense of dialog and characters... and every scene conveys something important in the large picture.

I apologize if this has been answer before, but is Criterion still replacing those cardboard cases? I wouldn't mind ordering replacement cases for The 400 Blows, The Third Man, and Bottle Rocket.

speaking of replacing cases, i bought a copy of Gomorrah and when i peeled the sticker/label of the top it tore the outer clear plastic of the case like 2 inches down the edge
i emailed criterion (havent heard back yet) about it but i wasnt sure if i was going to have to pay for a new case or if they would hook me up with a new one. anyone have this happen?
as much as i love the unique cases criterion uses it does make it quite a hassle to replace them if something like this happens.

I finally got my blu-ray copy of the Yojimbo / Sanjuro box. And with it, I picked up a copy of the out of print A Woman is a Woman DVD, which this store had on the shelf.

That list appears to be made up only of titles either officially announced by Criterion or titles there are very strong rumors for. I've not heard any mention of Brazil on Blu anytime soon. Though I assume it may eventually come.

Nice!

Last I had checked that site only had a front wallpaper. Good to see they fixed it up. Hopefully we get some announcements for Criterion releases of some of his films within the next 2 months so we're guaranteed something this year.

Thanks to those who chimed in on the Eclipse Series - Early Bergman set. Just a heads-up that the Bergman Collection (from MGM) is on sale for $12 at another site.

If they do bring out "Brazil" to Blu, hopefully with all the bells and whistles included with it as well.

I tried to find that video for a while and finally I was searching last night and finally found it. Too bad it looks like it's from a VHS recording, but atleast I found someone who posted it.

That's a pretty incredebile list. What would be truely incredible is if Criterion actually released all of those during the 2 remaining months to be announced.
I've been waiting for Chronos for a while (never seen it, really like Del Toro) and I think he may have something with the Nov. Announcement.
I think it could be awesome if they did a "Chaplin Year", releaseing 1 title a month for an entire year, with one month (perhaps over the anniversary of his birth) releasing 5 or 6 titles, just to get all 17 put out in a year. Just a thought. (Jon Mulvany, if your reading this, get to work)

I think they have said Chaplins will be released over the next couple years. Hopefully it starts this year.
