Do you think the Criterions currently 22.99 on amazon will drop to 20 because of the B&N sale? I should look up some price tracking. For overseas customers Amazon shipping is so much cheaper it would only make sense to do B&N if I could buy a ton at once like I used to. Only have money for 2 or 3 titles currently.
About to pull the trigger on Valerie and Dinner with Andre, but thought since the B&N sale just started maybe I should hold off.
Nevermind, pulled the trigger. Looks like a lot of Amazons only go below 43% if they are box sets.

Her more recent For A Woman is also out in France on Blu-ray (you can click below for our review).

Contrary to what reviews on this side of the Atlantic will have you believe À la folie is also very good, but that Australian DVD is poor. A treat for Béatrice Dalle and Anne Parillaud fans.

Edit: Looks like Children... is out of print. Please disregard my suggestion.

Thanks for your suggestions. After I posted that I pulled out C'est la Vie from my unwatched stack, but turns out Children Of The Century is in there as well. I'll go get that one too. (So is Horseman fwiw -- I got a million of 'em, it seems sometimes.)

Will look into the others.

You are very welcome, fdm See it soon, I am sure you will like it a lot.

Which The Horseman on the Roof release do you have? If it is the Buena Vista disc, there are massive cuts all over the place (118 minutes). Second Sight have the complete French version (131 minutes). But I am sure you already know this (The French Blu-ray release is not English friendly).

Edit: The running time for the UK release we have on the site is incorrect. The profile has 136 minutes, but the UK disc is actually 131 minutes. (Without the 4% PAL speed-up, of course, the actual running time should be slightly longer). I will adjust the profile now

I picked up Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion, Anatomy of a Murder, Fantastic Mr. Fox, and Paths of Glory. I will probably pick up Shoah and The Bridge before the sale ends also. All of them are blind buys

With the exception of Shoah (read a bit about it) and Fantastic Mr. Fox (I've seen other films by Anderson) I have no idea what I am getting into. Can't wait!

I have the old Miramax one, 119 minutes. May have to look into that UK dvd. In the meantime Children of the Century and C'est la Vie will just have to do. And maybe that 119 minute Horseman.

In this case, you should definitely seek the Second Sight disc. It has the longest version -- it appears that there are three different versions of the film -- and it also has an anamorphic transfer. The Second Sight disc has some room for improvement, and obviously the film can look far better in high-definition, but this is a fine release. In addition to being cut, if I recall correctly the U.S. disc does not even have an anamorphic transfer.

It would be fantastic if the film entered the Criterion Collection. I know Juliette Binoche likes it a lot, so if she is available, she would most definitely have some great comments about its production history

The shipping costs to Finland are ridiculous: one item = $36, 10 items = $90. Is it not the same with Sweden

I don't live in Sweden--that refers to the avatar.
(lots of confusion regarding this unfortunately)
EDIT: I was finally able to place an order.

I was thinking this, would have been a perfect time to release soundtrack.

So far I'm having to rely on fan made pieces:

They found part of the song and just put in the missing pieces...

How long will the 50% off sale run? As a non-member, should I hold out for more e-mailed coupons, before it is over?-- just missed the 10 off 75 one. Also, if i wait, am I in danger of losing out if items go out of stock?

Mr. Arkadin did though.
(according to the text I believe)
I lost my old Mr. Arkadin jpeg and haven't been able to find the same image that will upload onto this site as my avatar again. maybe I'll start looking for it again. really bugs me that it got lost in the ether.
(for the record--although not news--I live in the Southeastern US)

Got the following:

Rififi (already own the ARROW, but the movie is so god-damn awesome and easily my favorite flick from the 1950s)
The Shooting / Ride the Whirlwind (Only saw the shooting on a cropped dvd and it was amazing. Can't wait for the BD)
Valerie (Love Czech cinema and this looks right down my surreal-lovin' alley)

I believe it is running until the 27th or so. There are also $5 off $50 and $8 off an item over $40 coupons

I waited so much for this sale to catch up with Criterion, but now it seems I should forget it..
