God I wish criterion would get the right to do Pans Labyrinth I can't even imagine how good that would look. And all the extras we would get for it

Very sorry to hear that. Hope things improve soon for your country. Extremely trying times at the moment.

Just a quick thought... Does anyone actually watch Salo more than once. I personally can't see watching it other than to say you've seen it...

Yeah, I wouldn't want to own "Salo". I've actually seen the film twice, but I really can't envision a scenario where you're hanging out on a Friday night and say, "You know what? I feel like popping in "Salo" and giving it a watch. Have a couple cold ones and relax."

If you've already seen it, really the only purpose to owning it would be to screen it when friends are over in order to shock them.

Seen it three times. Once you get past the shock value, it's quite an artistic political statement. I still don't "love" the film, but I respect it and what Pasolini was doing a great deal.

Welp, I ordered It Happened One Night after clocking out this afternoon. It came out to be $19.20 (though I used a gift card, so I didn't actually spend anything). I'm not sure how much I can spend during this sale, but I hope to get at least two or three more.

Anyone on here like the Eclipse sets? What would you label as the top three Criterion Eclipse collections?

I've seen it four times, twice in theatres twice at home (with friends).
I think its a really well made movie that is a lot of fun to watch with a crowded theatre (audience reactions!) and since it actually has a point Im not too outright disgusted by it.
I cant see myself watching it by myself but I still feel its totally worth owning.

Lol loved the recent Criterion Closet video - the pic made them look greedy and annoying but they didn't seem it in video, love how they didn't even know they could take them and they seemed so thankful :P

I think salo is a work of cinematic art. I also see a point in owning it because usually when I have a conversation about it it ends up a bit of an argument and it's good to have as a resource. I haven't seen it in full since I bought the blu about 5 years ago, and in my life I've probably sat through it 4 or 5 times. Once you get over the concept and what is being presented to you, it's an intellectual and cinematic achievement IMO

As far as Eclipse sets go my 'must haves':

Early Fassbinder
First films of Sam Fuller
Presenting Sacha Guitry
Nikkatsu Noir
Early Bergman

With the exception of Shoah (read a bit about it) and Fantastic Mr. Fox (I've seen other films by Anderson) I have no idea what I am getting into. Can't wait!
All great movies. Investigation is very thought provoking movie. Good choices.

Yeah..I just love Salo. Whenever we have company from out of town, I just pop it into the player and enjoy. Every time my in-laws come over, we open up a bottle of red wine and maybe some caviar, sit back and relax. It's sublime!

Is that the first time the cameraman addressed the guests? Can't recall that happening.
