This sounds like good advice. I'm going to do the series this way.

Clocking in at 72 minutes, The Tale of Zatoichi Continues plows along at a brisk pace and is almost equal to the first film in terms of emotional content and intensity. This second film ups the ante somewhat in terms of action, and we get to see a lot more actual fight scenes featuring the title character. Shintarô Katsu is still outstanding in the role, and I also enjoyed the work of Tomisaburô Wakayama (Shogun Assassin).

Onward to the third film...
Always fun to see brothers work together. For those who might not know, Tomisaburô Wakayama played Sugai in Ridley Scott's Black Rain.

Warner Bros really piss me off. They will release the same movies over and over with new packaging while movies like Arsenic and Old Lace, The Philadelphia Story, The Big Sleep, Key Largo, To Have and Have not, Gaslight, Asphalt Jungle and a ton of other great movies sit in limbo. At the very least license them to Criterion and make some money if you have no intention of releasing on Bluray. I wouldn't mind kickstarter campaigns for a lot of these movies.

Love Senso. Such a underrated movie. Need to watch the Leopard again its been awhile. Its story parallels The Music Room in the theme of the changing of times and out with the old and in with the new. As Beautiful as The Leopard is I still prefer The Music Room simply because of how haunting a film it is. Would love to see more Visconti in the collection though.

I love film-noirs and I think Dassin's Rififi is one of the greatest films ever made, but this one does nothing for me. It's certainly not a bad film, consisting of phenomenal acting by Richard Widmark, but I definitely do not appreciate it nor see any greatness in it like everyone else seems to.
in complete agreement w/ you, Scottie. maybe not so much on Widmark because I want to punch him in the face in a bad way, but this movie did nothing for me. I like Kazan's Panic in the Streets (also w/ Widmark) better.

Does anyone know if The Passion of Joan of Arc will get a Blu-ray release anytime soon? I've have been waiting on pins and needles for Criterion to put it out (the Voices of Light soundtrack is a must for me)!

Also: any chance we'll get The Thief of Bagdad, Ikiru or Ugetsu? Have any been hinted? (I don't keep up with the doodles/rumors these days.) Those are probably my most-wanted re-releases at the moment...

No idea, but the MoC Bluray came out in 2012 and looks amazing. Sharp contrast and details. Just a great restoration effort. I was expecting Criterion to release it shortly after the MoC version simply because of how important a film it is, but have not heard one thing about it. Also wish Vampyre would see a restoration effort and Bluray release, but I understand it survives in less then perfect shape.

I'm not able to add or delete anything from my lists. I'm on Firefox, though, so that may be the problem.

Any recommendations for films in the Collection from the 21st century? I know there aren't too many to choose from, but are there any that come highly recommended by you lot?

Frances Ha was an absolute delight. Not in a whimsical, unsubstantial way either. It's a great film.

Some other favorites include...

Blue is the Warmest Color
Carlos
Revanche
Everlasting Moments

criterion.com doesn't play nice with Chrome either. Seems it was optimized with only IE in mind.

Just the other day everyone was duscussing how good The Great Beauty is, there is also Traffic (that I think is brilliant), In The Mood For Love, and Le Havre (featuring Pierre Etaix as Dr. Becker).
