I have not seen Revanche yet, but it is high on the list. My expectations might be too high to be honest.
Revanche is a film that benefits from both taking risks and showing restraint at the same time.

It has one of the best looking CC covers, too. I think it was octagon who pointed out the fact that sometimes a slick cover can be a selling point.

Both my wife and I loved Blue is the Warmest Color, so I'll see this soon.
Going to be selling my copy as well as probably another 60 or so titles, so I'll message you when they're up if you're still interesting.

Yeah, fair enough I don't suspect a new Blu-ray release would bring out a great deal more than is already there, visually speaking -- my real agenda is to have the movie "legitimized" by a Criterion release, since it feels like one of the several redheaded stepchildren of Lynch's filmography, and there's plenty of extra content from around that period that didn't make it onto even the packed DVD release.

Inland Empire is my favourite Lynch film, and of course it features the awesome Rabbits.

Laura Dern is phenomenal in it and she really transforms herself throughout the film, and it has an incredible soundtrack! The camera annoys me in certain scenes but majority of it it works so well and I adore the look of it.

Also the end credits is such a great celebration of all his films with so many subtle references

yes, please do! I still might be on the fence about that title, but I would definitely like a heads up to see everything you've got.

thanks, Scott!

Just bought the 2002 DVD release of Children of Paradise for less than $7. I've never seen it. Those screen caps on the recent blu-ray release are pretty bad. I'd rather have a more filmic presentation.

Does anyone know if this has one of those double fat cases being that it is 2 discs? The packaging pics on the "other site" look like it is a thin regular sized case.

Children of Paradise is a 2 disc set, each part on each disc. I think it is a fat dvd case. I am not sure because haven't seen it for years, though.

The camera annoys you? It wouldn't be the same film without the lowgrade digital look.

Can't say whether they have changed it along the way, but originally at least it came in one of those fat double case you describe.

Only in one or two shots Mostly I loved the look as I said. The main one that pop to head is when Laura's character has tea at her neighbour -I don't HATE it but it just bugs me a little.

I can't say how pleased I am that Tokyo-Ga is included as a special feature on the criterion Late Spring release. I've seen this documentary before, it's really really good, had no idea it was based on Ozu... I'm going to watch Tokyo-Ga, then the movie itself tonight. Hehehe... god, what a nice treat this is.

Tokyo Ga is one of the greatest documentaries that I have ever seen.

(Kind Heart and Coronets, The Man In The White Suit, Lavender Hill Mob, Whiskey Galore, Passport To Pimlico, The Titfield Thunderbolt, & Went the Day Well) All amazingly funny movies except Went the Day Well which has a few surprisingly implied violent scenes for its day. All of them are definitely recommended.
Well, it's not really a question of StudioCanal "doing nothing here". It's their licensor, Lionsgate. On the other hand, it's possible that Anchor Bay still holds the rights to the above, from when they released a few DVD boxed sets:

The Alec Guinness Collection -- The Ladykillers / The Man in the White Suit / The Lavender Hill Mob / Kind Hearts and Coronets / The Captain's Paradise

Ealing Studios Comedy Collection -- The Maggie / Passport to Pimlico / A Run for Your Money / Whiskey Galore! / The Titfield Thunderbolt

British War Collection -- The Cruel Sea / The Ship That Died of Shame / Went the Day Well? / The Dam Busters / The Colditz Story

(And possibly others; these are the three I have.)

Not really likely, as these sets were released about 10-12 years ago, but it's possible.

Made a random stop at a store that sells used DVD & BD. Normally I just look through the BD section since the DVDs are usually just the big studio films that I either already have or seen & don't really wanna own. Today I decided to actually look through the DVD section since I had time to kill. Glad I did since I walked away with these Criterion DVDs: The Rock $5, Spartacus $7 & Ran $10

Ran is an excellent buy. The Rock you could have avoided because Disney's blu-ray contains a massively upgraded transfer and all the supplements of the Criterion DVD release. For 5$, I suppose it doesn't really matter.

I give a strong no to the Fisher King, and a strong yes to The Thin Red Line.
also, is Yi Yi unpopular around here? I never see it mentioned, and it's possibly the best thing...ever...

I can watch Tokyo Ga over and over. How can you not want to visit Japan after seeing it?

Come to think of it I can also watch Late Spring over and over. Either this release or In The Mood For Love is probably my most watched Criterion.
