thanks! I must be pretty dumb, though, because I went back to the page and did "Ctrl-F" and typed in the title to see where it was on the list. The first result takes you to where it says:

"The banner image above is taken from Nicolas Roeg’s Bad Timing, the 1,000th ranked greatest film."

Awesome!! The Naked Prey has been on my top five Criterion upgrade wishlist for years. At least now I know it is a possibility and that a high def master exists. I first saw this film on TV when I was a kid in the late 1970s. I remember it got so interesting it made me put down one of my coveted Star Wars model kits I was building to watch it. Even my little brother stopped playing and watched it with me.

My introduction to the great Cornel Wilde.

Fantastic! Was looking it up recently and found myself disappointed seeing it had no BR release.

Do Criterion still have digipaks for new releases (individual films) or is it strictly clear plastic cases from here on out? I saw someone discussing the chances of Mulholland Drive coming in digipak, so that's why I'm asking.

It's plastic unless the size of the booklet needs a bigger case. Seven Samurai, Breathless, Picnic at Hanging Rock, Battle of Algiers, etc - are examples of needing a digipak.

Have some Criterion DVD film titles (some were in used condition). Decided recently to get a Blu-ray title while the Amazon.com sale was on, Ride the Pink Horse.

Recent releases with posters or poster-sized foldouts include: Don't Look Now, La Dolce Vita, L'Avventura, The Black Stallion, Fellini Satyricon, The French Lieutenant's Woman, Here is Your Life, The Fisher King, The Confession, State of Siege, Hoop Dreams, The Bitter Tears of Petra Von Kant, My Winnipeg, Tootsie, Time Bandits, The Night Porter, Safe, The Shooting/Ride in the Whirlwind, It Happened One Night...

...that's the end of my rope--there may be more, possibly even from before the dual-format experiment/abandonment, which is what seemed to lead to the dropping of all but the occasional booklet. I think one or two of the Wes Anderson films may have supplementary posters, but can't check at the moment.

I just finished watching Zatoichi and the Chest of Gold (1964).

This sixth Zatoichi film is the most stylized movie of the series yet, and I particularly love the James Bond-style opening credits sequence. The action is not quite as spectacular in this one as in the previous movie, but there is a great scene involving a bet and a split coin.

I'm going to take another break from the Zatoichi films this weekend, but I'll return to watching them next week with Zatoichi's Flashing Sword.

I'm glad they're not doing digipaks anymore - they're flimsy and damage easily. On some digipaks where they have heavy booklets, it's very easy for them to fall out and for the digipaks to rip or tear. Plastic all the way

I like Digipacks more...I buy most at stores and once it reaches me, they are safe. Expecting 3 criterions in mail (2 of them are digipacks), hope they make it without any injuries. One of the digipacks should be in the mailbox now...

personally I like both. I think I prefer the standard cases just slightly more, but digipacks generally come with dvd copies as well, which is a nice bonus, when I'm lending out my movies to a friend, they typically only have dvd players in their household.. >.< lol.

also the digipacks tend to have some great caseart. flimsy may they be, I find them sturdy enough.. I don't handle my cases clumsily and have stuff fall out.

re: muholland drive, I don't think it'll be a digipack.
do you guys think the brood will be a digipack?

No, I think the Brood will be in a plastic case. I think they're getting away from digipaks since most don't like them. I also much prefer the plastic cases. I wish I could get one for Scanners.

Those all have large "road map" style sheets rather than the six-inch tall "brochure"-style leaflets.

True, not all of those have what would be considered clean poster art on them--some have large pictures interspersed with text, others are almost like contact sheets of traditional booklets, but any leaflet that folds out to poster-size, whether it has clean poster art or not, strikes me as a "poster".

(Does anyone actually hang these things? They're creased with folds and have booklet essays on them.)

La Jetee is arguably the greatest 28 minutes in the history of film.

I personally don't care much for the 400 Blows or Jules and Jim.

...but there's no denying their historical significance.
