Speaking of Aronofsky ... I would love to see what Criterion could do with some/all of his movies. Granted, they are mostly pretty good releases as they stand right now. But man, an Aronofsky box set would be simply awesome!

If you like Lady Snowblood, than I stongly advice you to seek out The Lone Wolf & Cub boxset. In the UK they're only available on DVD from Eureka. It includes all six films, plus the Roger Corman produced Shogun Assassin which takes footage from the first two films and have been recut and redubbed. The first film is great but a tad slow, but the second film has brilliant action. By the Fifth film, you have a balance between story and an action spectacle that was ripped off by Tarantino for Kill Bill. Truly amazing stuff.

I've seen Shogun Assassin but not The Lone Wolf & Cub set. I'll need to check it out. Thanks for the tip.

Damn right it would be! Yeah, it gives me a headache each time I watch it. But I'd love to hear what some scholars have to say about it.

Yep. It's kind of a bootleg release but the quality isn't bad for a DVD. I was surprised to find it. I went back to see if they had any other cool rare films but it was mostly mainstream stuff. I guess I got lucky.

I would say so! Nice find.

It makes me wonder who at RiteAid was the guy or gal who thought, "This is the movie I should order!"

My copy of Day for Night has shipped and I should be seeing it tomorrow, which is pretty exciting if you ask me! Now I'm just waiting for an announcement today, and I'll be good with Criterion for a few more weeks until Dressed to Kill comes my way.

See, if only "Thanks" weren't limited somehow (actually, I'd love to know why that is, frankly).

But, "Thanks!"

Still can't get over 'Dressed To Kill.' Saw it for the first time last night, and seldom do you see a film so expertly crafted, directed, and shot. Blew my mind, can't wait to own the updated Criterion version in a few weeks.

For me it felt too much like a rip off of a Hitchcock film - It just got a bit annoying for me, it was enjoyable to watch and I cant say its a bad film, I just didn't like the in your face homages or references or whatever you want to call them to Hitchcock...

Just as long as you don't end up in the scene with a... hmm... how do I say this without being offensive... double-sided marital aid?

Seems like we have this conversation every month.

Announcements are usually between 5-6pm. The earliest I've seen them is around 4:30pm and that's a rarity. I'm not quite into my "refresh page" mode, but will be soon.

Moring all. A quick update - I bought the Network release of Young and Innocent last week and actually watched it last night. That alone should be enough to guarantee it being announced today but in case it's not here's a little extra push - I thought it was really good.
