I'm watching -- rather listening to The Social Network commentary (Cast/Sorkin). And I'm thinking: This Sony release is amazing. I wish all Criterion releases were like this.

I used a framer called stick-it-on-the-wall from London (via eBay) - they do everything to order and the quality is fantastic (I already had some of their oak frames) - this cost about £40.

Speaking of Criterion Trilogies being aired on TCM, the Ingrid Bergman/Roberto Rossellini set will air on Friday 8/28 though not in order.

10:00 am Stromboli
11:45 am Journey to Italy
12:00 mid Europa 51

Good trilogy. I have loved Journey to Italy for quite some time, but I just watched Stromboli this week and was blown away. I think I actually prefer it over Journey. Haven't seen the latter yet, but I can say with confidence that this is a superb trilogy.

By the way, we just recorded our "Geekfest" episode and it was epic. Probably over 2 hours of just Criterion news and rumors. I'm worn out. I did do some major shouting out to Blu-Ray.com and the thread here, partly because I appreciated iScottie's work, but also because I just love this place.

Now I'm going to sleep for 20 hours and start editing. Will try to get the episode up tomorrow night.

I think it is great that you are doing this. Hopefully I will get a chance to listen some day, although to be honest I have been so busy recently that I am incredibly behind on podcasts. And on posting here, for that matter...

Wow, that looks great. Great choice of artwork. I'll probably pick it up for myself (just have to, you know, see the film first).

Do you think there's any possibility of Criterion releasing a complete Chaplin, Wes Anderson, Kurosawa, Ingmar Bergman, or any Director-Related collections in the future? I've been holding off on some of their releases, but it's getting hard to hold myself back!

There is already a Akira Kurasowa set, but in terms of supplements and stuff its pretty bare and very expensive now.

Would love the AK 100 set upgraded to bluray though + extra features, but the existing set is beautiful and a great starter for his films I guess.

If you are looking for the same movies already released in blu-ray as individual releases (+a few not released yet), chances are almost or zero for the directors you mentioned...Criterion is not known for doing this sort of stuff unlike the major studios...

They did single release + box set later or vice versa a few times

for eg:-
Tati's Playtime, then box
BBS box, then Five easy pieces...

Been wanting to watch that film for quite a while now.

Its almost as if they're rubbing it in.

Yeah man that looks "flipping" awesome!! but those prices I've seen on ebay turn me off.

This may be hyperbole, but this has one of the best anti-heroes in film. Love this film so much.

Not hyperbole at all...a very good assessment imo. A great film, no doubt. The Criterion presentation is flawless.

All those posters framed!! I'm jealous. I know Criterion sell some posters but none that interest me. Where do you buy your posters? Any good sites?

Yeah TCM often seems to air Criterion releases after they are released. I never understood that. Even though I am a huge fan of Apu and would recommend it to anyone, some find it challenging. Could check it out on TCM. The only problem is by the time it airs, the B&N sale will be over in case you fall in love and want to buy it (which is a good possibility).
Indeed, maybe those that want to give it a chance check it out on TCM. As to sale timing, maybe that's according to plan...*maniacal laugh*

That is a really good trilogy, I hope some can get a chance to check it out as well. I really loved them all, I think Europe '51 is my favorite of the three. For now anyway
