The funny part is how wrong and stupid the original article was - and also opens up the question.. why do they have an article on TG death? How would they accidentally publish etc.

How could they make an accident like that lol..?

All the major news bureaus and newspapers have pre-written obituaries filed and ready to be released at a moment's notice so they can try to scoop the news whenever anyone important dies. Haven't you noticed that the first death announcements are rather bare-boned and focus mainly on someone's career and accomplishments, and then gradually get updated several times over the next few hours with more recent details and updated information about survivors, current projects, etc.? It's all part of the information game.

And occasionally, one of those files gets accidentally released ... it's happened before and will no doubt happen again.

What did you think of The Friends of Eddie Coyle?

I haven't watched it yet! I started watching all the Bradley Cooper movies in my collection, then shifted over to Sigourney Weaver, and now I'm catching up with the films of Colin Farrell. I'm shocked that I enjoyed Seven Psychopaths so much; I had read some of the tepid reviews, and was surprised to find myself laughing so hard at a couple of scenes that I had to back up to catch some of the dialogue I had missed.

It's almost time for me to start my annual horror/sci-fi movie marathon, too. My copy of Eyes Without a Face arrived today, which is a disc that was highly recommended to me by one of my best friends here in the forum. I'll probably launch my scare-fest with that one.

I'll probably get around to Eddie Coyle around the first of November, in the two-week down time between my Halloween and Christmas film festivals.

Grateful for any thoughts on the Criterion DVD of Contempt versus the Studio Canal BD. Never seen the film and leaning towards the Criterion disc simply because I like the label and an OOP copy in fine condition can be had for reasonable money. The BD costs less new, but I've read conflicting reviews on the respective PQ of each.

Great film.

Though it made me want to kill myself.

...that's the only downside.

It is a film that every serious Criterion lover should see.

This is the film that confirmed to me (after having seen Breathless and Pierrot le Fou too), that I'm not into Godard.

Godard may have been more stylistic and creative, and I appreciate his work of course, but I think I might prefer Truffaut.

I watched Don't Look Now yesterday afternoon and was completely blown away. It seems that viewers either love this film or hate it. I thought it was masterful in imagery and storytelling. Best of all a thought provoking film that leaves you thinking about the symbolism and themes of the movie.

In many ways I found myself comparing it to Persona. Like Bergman, every single shot and line from Roeg added to the story. And, like Persona, I can see myself revisiting again and again to piece together the clues.

I have not seen Walkabout, Insignificance or The Man Who Fell to Earth, but I will be binge watching those this weekend.

I'm going to see Koreeda's latest film Our Little Sister tomorrow at TIFF. I still feel like the collection could use more of his films. I wonder if Still Walking is a poor seller?

I have seen 2 Truffaut films:
400 Blows and the Woman next door.
While i didn't care very much for the first, I LOVED the second!
What other films of his would you recommend?

I know this wasn't directed at me, but...

If you love movies, and enjoy how they're made, Day for Night is a must-see. I also really enjoy Jules and Jim (but I know several other people on here don't really like it).

Interesting. I adore Don't Look Now for the same reasons as you do and couldn't get into Persona when I have watched it recently for the first time. It wasn't bad but left me cold. Just sharing my 2 cents here.

I see what you are saying. Persona has more of an art feel to it especially with the opening imagery. I even found it odd that I compared the two, but when you begin to consider the perception from each character there are a lot of similarities...IMO.

I think the people that try to view Don't Look Now as a standard, thriller film are going to be disappointed. Persona is a top 10 film to me. I really enjoy the psychological thrillers.

I can see you enjoying The Last Metro. It was his film before The Woman Next Door. For lack of a better way to put it, it kinda shares that European art-house feel w/ TWND.
