So Criterion did just announce their new titles and a new form of distribution as well. Interesting.

For anyone looking to pass some time waiting for the announcements, here's an interesting little read discussing the documentary Hitchcock/Truffaut that's showing at the TIFF this Saturday:

I think they've had a hell of a year. Every Man For Himself might be their best single-disc release ever, while their own Hiroshima mon amour upgrade gives it a run for its money. In Ride The Pink Horse we have one of my favourite blind buys ever too, while their Truffaut acquisitions were a dream come true (and fantastically realised). Their Costa-Gavras discs are real favourites too.

Was there ever any suggestion that they were looking to acquire it? It doesn't strike me as the sort of thing they'd go for (not that I'll mourn its loss, I'm not a fan).

It's a violation of all sorts. Beyond the use of "The Criterion Collection", that TV series shouldn't be in the Public Domain. It certainly wouldn't have fallen into P.D. in 1979 (15 years after the TV series started on the air).

Not to mention all the goodies coming in October and November, which to me are right up with any month of Criterion. It has been a good year. I think they've been criticized for a lack of box sets, but that'll probably be rectified last year.

That's a shame. He's making $150+ off every one it seems. He needs to be reported.

I reported him to eBay and I also contacted my friend Jon Mulvaney at Criterion.

Doesn't seem like the announcement is going to be today

Anybody with an official word from social networks?

Well at least tomorrow is an official day here in Mexico, so I can patiently wait for them at home

Is it because of the holiday of Rosh Hashana? That's the only thing I could think of that would make it delayed.

I have seen them as late as 7pm before. It's been a long week. I wouldn't rule out announcements yet.

I think they are still coming today, I've seen them posted later than this before. I think they would have posted if they were delayed by now. I think they are waiting After Hours :-)

Really hoping for After Hours as well. The Before Trilogy would be nice. Not sure if we're getting announcements today, however.

I haven't been able to check in all day, but I just knew you guys would already have several pages analyzing December titles. Way to let me down...

Yes, maybe this is a skewed version of a double clue. They are posting "After Hours" and sometime "Before Midnight."
