Is Summer interlude good? Never seen it before and the premise sounds interesting

Yes!! Although the lack of supplements is not great.

I love all the Summer Bergman films.

What was the problem with The Secret of the Grain?

I thought it was pretty mediocre. I liked the early Bergman's "Summer with Monika" and "Sawdust and Tinsel" much better.

the one in the banner ad seems to be grey-ish? soooo since there was no preference option, that may be it. that said, i am going with your idea of surprise to keep the dream alive

There was a list of problematic Criterion titles that I copied from a website over a year ago and pasted into a Word document. Some of the major complaints pertaining to the blu-rays on the list were (of course) the bronzing issue and other playback issues. Two or three people said that they had returned their Secret of the Grain discs to Criterion for a replacement, and I decided that I would order my copy from Criterion directly so that it would be from a later pressing.

In all fairness, it very well could have been that the people who were complaining had hardware issues with their players, or dirty discs, etc. ... but I decided not to take any chances.

If I can find the list again (I just searched and couldn't find it), I'll certainly provide a link to it in a future post. I hope that helps!

I don't know if I'm going to purchase anything during this sale. Although I have it on my DVR, I think I may pick up Jeanne Dielman.

How does the Eyes Without a Face transfer compare to either the DVD or the version TCM broadcasts?

I'm assuming it's significantly better but is it in that 'night and day, like seeing it for the first time all over again' category?

Wasn't planning on ordering anything since I just spent money on getting house cleaned up from the rain here in SC, but had a gift cert so I bought:

Dressed to Kill
Moonrise Kingdom
Fish Tank
Hiroshima Mon Amour

Went ahead and ordered 3 more to rack up a few more dollars toward gift certificate. I'm done now.

Got:
Blind Chance
Metropolitan
Night Porter

I don't think it's night and day but it's a welcome improvement. The contrast is superior (the old DVD had a somewhat milky appearance). It also has less print damage.

Thanks, I believe I know which thread you are referring, didn't notice this is one released in 2010, so it had a possibility of being affected by the bronzing/playback problem. But I believe my version is a newer pressing, just wanted to make sure there wasn't another problem involving this disc.

Flash sale days are always fun. I'm $250 lighter, but 12 blus, 4 dvds, 2 eclipse sets, and 3 tote bags on the way.

The only bad part is all the updating (criterion.com collection, criterion.com wish list, blu-ray.com collection). All done now. Time to rearrange the shelves to make room for the incoming...

Happy flash sale day everyone.

Regards,
You saved like $2.50 by using 3 times the credit instead of 1

You could have saved much more if you had purchased 9 titles in three orders

Flash sales are the best!

I bought the three I didn't have, and then I splurged and bought a handful of Eclipse sets. So just need three to be Eclipse complete, and I'll get those from B&N.

The totes look pretty snazzy too, but I messed up and placed them in small orders -- which I prefer for shipping. I didn't realize you could get more than 1 tote per account. So I missed out on 2 or 3 free ones, but honestly, I doubt I'll really use them.
