sorry, my connections are sometimes abstract, but this quote from Trainspotting immediately came to mind!

I'm a big Melville fan. I'd love to have it from Criterion, but I own the French release and could understand the reason for the wait. I also wish Studio Canal would let Criterion re-release the titles they once had, since it appears Lionsgate has no interest. Bob le flambeur is high on my want list for Blu ray.

If they announce Inside Llewyn Davis, I'll be very happy.

Does anyone have an idea of when we may see The Grand Budapest Hotel hit Criterion?

Would love to see The Virgin Spring upgrade. Saw it a few years ago and still think of the imagery Bergman used, like
[Show spoiler]Max Von Sydow sitting at the table with a huge axe.
Plus when was the last Bergman upgrade, I think it was Persona.

Based on the original home video releases of Fantastic Mr. Fox and Moonrise Kingdom, and their Criterion releases we can expect TGBH in 2017 or 2018.

Speedy is coming in December.

And I think the thing next to the Dressed to Kill Lady is snowy blood indicating a Lady Snowblood release but it's hard to tell what that thing is exactly.

I thought I read somewhere that this set was going to be released sometime this year but hopefully early next year...

Can I ask again why people want ILD so badly when it already has a release and is unlikely to look substantially better?

Because they think slapping a C on it makes it somehow better when an "upgrade" would be a complete waste of time.

But mostly, I assume, is because the original release had zilch for special features. I don't care about special features anymore, so a Criterion release seems pointless to me. Rather have a film that's not already out.

Probably hoping for a robust supplemental package, possibly including the inclusion of Another Day Another Time.

Ah fair enough, special features completely slipped my mind.

No set time, but recently its been 5-7 est ish. I just keep an eye here. There are currently 12 releases listed there. When the announcement is live that number will jump to 17 or 18 and the newly announced titles will be at the bottom.

Well, duh! I keep a spreadsheet charting all the Criterion releases, and I refer to it constantly. And there it is, right in front of me: spine #788, Speedy, December 08, 2015. You know, sometimes I worry about me ...

As far as the snowy blood goes, I can work with that! When the drawing first came out, I wanted so desperately for it be a bottomless hole ... as in The Abyss ... but we surely would have heard some rumors by now if that were going to be the case. I just love that silly film, and am so tired of waiting for it to be issued on blu-ray.

why are they releasing jellyfish eyes... -_-;; I thought that was a joke?

I saw the trailer for this years ago, and could see right away its your standard trash japanese anime stuff, but with live action... kind of like a really really really REALLY bad bad bad who framed roger rabbit... but instead of the whole 'toons existing with real people' premise, they're framing it around that silly japanese cultural thing, where there's little creatures that are spirits. like, some old table lamp has a spirit that is attached to it, or something retarded.

(no offense to anyone who appreciates and enjoys japanese culture, I just think the whole thing is superstitious garbage, sorry)

could be totally wrong, maybe jellyfish is a masterpiece?

Could be. Not many have seen it yet. Seems like a Hausu-type release and that one is a lot of fun.
