When I initiate an Amazon return, I'm given the option of having UPS (United Parcel Service, not the USPS) pick it up the next business day. I just print out the label, affix it to the package, and then leave it out on the porch the next morning. The UPS man comes by, picks it up and leaves me a receipt ... no muss, no fuss, and no effort.

You might check and see if that's an option for you, and if it isn't, call Amazon Customer Service and tell them you need it. They should be willing to accommodate you.

I'm about to crash out for a few hours, but I'll check my account and see if that's an option already. Thank you for the suggestion.

From Criterion directly they sometimes come perfect and sometimes with little beat up corners, and usually order in big quantities so they all come in a big box.

In the end I have not returned anything and don't think the small problems from my Criterion orders would be bad enough to anyone else to warrant a return, but if you order on small quantities, say 3 or less I am not sure, as I haven't seen the packaging used in those cases.

If I can have the USPS pick up my Amazon returns from home, then I shouldn't have any issue trying a second time for better packaging. I don't think it's asking for too much when spending $25 on a single movie. But now that I know I could always pay to have replacement packaging sent, it's less of a concern. At least I have options.

Obviously, those pics show an already opened package (in case anyone is inadvertently led to believe it arrived ripped and torn - rest assured, it did not, LOL).

Outside, it's one of those brown cardboard envelopes-of-sorts that essentially "wraps" itself around the movie, if that makes any sense. (If anyone knows the "official" name for that type of packaging, please chime in.) The movie is packed very tightly inside. No possibility of it moving around at all.

Inside, there's a protective layer, as you can see.

The movie arrived in perfect condition.

I tried watching that on TCM last week.

Only made it about 30 minutes in and turned it off.

Love Orson Welles, but just not a big fan of straight Shakespeare.
