Gilda and Inside Llewyn Davis are absolutely day-one purchases. Wonderful month!

It's darker than Purple Noon, for sure. I think it weighs much heavier on the mind as well. To me it does have similarities in style to his other films of the period, but I'm honestly having a hard time trying to describe it to you. The direction, acting and pace are spot on. It's also got some music from The Kinks in it!

As of now, in for "The American Friend" only...However I mostly buy during B&N sale, which will be almost 6 months away...
![]() Not too crazy about Inside Llewyn Davis, but will see...like the cover though... Last edited by diskspinner; 10-16-2015 at 09:39 PM. Reason: typo |

Wow! What a great month! Of course I'm in for all of them.
Love the $29.95 price point on Bitter Rice, a film I've always wanted to see. I just wish they were also going to bring out Capra's The Bitter Tea of General Yen along with it and make it a thoroughly "bitter" January. I'm also astonished that The Complete Lady Snowblood is only going to be priced at only $39.95 since it's a two-sku boxed set; those are normally priced at $49.95 and above. The special features on Inside Llewyn Davis make that a must-have (I'll be trading in my bare-bones disc for store credit during my next visit to Vintage Stock); and Gilda is a no-brainer for this film noir fan ... talk about intriguing subtext! And I can't pass up the neo-noir promise of The American Friend. What a way to start the new year! |

I could be wrong, but isn't there annual B&N sale in November as well?

Good releases but I'm only interested in the Wim Wenders movie.
Is this the first time Criterion never included an upgrade in their announcements? I could have sworn I've always seen at least 1 upgrade per month. |
