Gotcha. I was thinking a larger Wenders boxed set may be coming, but that makes sense to do the trilogy separate.

As with nearly every announcement, I've never seen any of these films but I'm looking forward to getting them. Not sure why I never got around to seeing Llewyn Davis as I'm a big Coen Brothers fan.

That will never happen while Oliver Stone is still breathing.

Great month!! Do you guys think they're going to release every single movie from the janus retrospective?

Some of the movies are kinda hard to find (for example the goalie's anxiety at the penalty kick) and I would love if they released all of them at once in a huge box set, but if they keep coming every 3 months I'd be happy too :P

Maybe they'll release The Egyptian, now that Twilight Time's edition is well past it's 3-year exclusivity window (not to mention OOP).

I'm glad to see The American Friend getting the treatment. Caught the 4K restoration a couple months ago and it was stunning. Looking forward to revisiting it.

Yes.

(all kidding aside, Gilda is a fantastic movie. It's not really a goto noir for me but it's really, really good. I can understand one being a little skeptical of all the gushing but it actually is that good)

Default Oop?

Does anyone know how or when Criterions go out of print? I am late to the party and don't want to miss out on anything but for budget reasons I tend to get 10 +/- on the barnes and noble sales.

I'd be suspicious if they did include that. It's not part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

I am really looking forward to the new 2K restoration of Riso Amaro. One of my all-time favorite films with beautiful Silvana Mangano It should be a fantastic upgrade of the old Italian release.

Il grande cinema Italiano, indeed

Pretty boring month. Llewyn Davis is a waste os space, since there's already a perfectly fine disc out PQ-wise (and the extras herelooks pretty meager at that).

No interest in Lady Snowblood or Bitter Rice.

Gilda is great but already have the German disc.

The American Friend is the only must buy.

Meager extras? Yikes.

With you on the Wenders film, though.

This is meager:
  • New audio commentary featuring writers Robert Christgau, David Hajdu, and Sean Wilentz
  • The First Hundred Feet, the Last Hundred Feet, a new conversation between filmmaker Guillermo del Toro and directors Joel and Ethan Coen about the evolution of their approach, from Blood Simple to Inside Llewyn Davis
  • Inside “Inside Llewyn Davis,” a forty-five-minute 2013 documentary
  • Another Place, Another Time (2014), a 101-minute film documenting an Inside Llewyn Davis tribute concert, featuring Joan Baez, Mumford & Sons, Punch Brothers, Gillian Welch, Jack White, and others
  • New piece on the history of “Fare Thee Well (Dink’s Song),” featuring music producer T Bone Burnett and the Coens
  • New piece about Dave Van Ronk and the Greenwich Village folk scene of the early sixties, featuring music writer and historian Elijah Wald
  • Sunday, a short 1961 documentary by Dan Drasin about the riots that took place in Washington Square Park after folk musicians were prevented from gathering and playing there
  • Trailers
  • PLUS: An essay by film critic Kent Jones

Wow. What are the non-meager extras releases?

This might be the most stacked Coen-related release ever.

Same here, though I'm slightly more excited by Gilda.

Glad I never got around to picking up the Sony edition of ILD.
