The prequels acting certainly sucked for the most part. I really don't care about all the nonsense Lucas put out there regarding the series.

It's kinda like the original Rocky movie. I still love the original Rocky and pretty much ignore the endless stream of pathetic sequels that came afterwards. Ditto on the original Jaws and other horror franchises. Rarely do the endless sequels come close to the original.

The original Star Wars trilogy wasn't perfect but it came pretty close to perfect for me.
Well I don't want to make this into another endless debate about Star Wars. There is no bigger geek of Star Wars then me, I buy it all, books, comics, toys..... But truly the acting, the scripts, everything in the original and the prequel both are not spectacular. As much of a fan that I am for Star Wars, I am always amaze at how much some people elevate the originals at some sort of level they never deserve. Are they fun? Of course they are, they are my favorite, I never get tired of watching them? Are they masterpieces? Not even close and they never were either, they are just fun and that is it.

Thank you. And coming from a fan, it's awesome for you to say that. Look, I know Star Wars is a big fan based thing from the 70's that lived on (Jaws, The Exorcist, Rocky Horror), but it's nothing more than a cool, fun, big budget Sci-Fi B-Movie. The clothing, bad. Acting, not top notch. It is dated. It's a 70's future space film. But I guess it is fun, and it has the biggest fan base among mainstream films.

I just got my 2 pre-orders delivered today. I am surprised they cancelled your order. BTW, the War Trilogy is in the slim dvd cases too, as I have also seen some of the other dvd sets in them too. This Star Wars/HP debate is interesting, since Star Wars has been around and is still going strong 30+ years. HP is very popular though, but now, if I remember correctly, the last novel is coming out soon. That will slowly kill the interest over the years, as people want something new to come out. Unless they do something with the series years after the last book comes out, it will die out much faster than the Star Wars series ever will.

Like if you think right now about creating a future, you would think the hair styles and clothes would be much different than what we have today. Well Lucas should of thought the same in the late 70's. Just my opinion. Maybe Star Wars should of had a touch of David Bowie or something.
In Lucas defense, he never wanted to make a scifi movie, he made a fantasy adventure story that just happen to hit the right cord with a lot of people. He wasn't making 2001 or Blade Runner, he wanted to make a Flash Gordon movies for the 1930's and if anyone ever saw those, they are about as scifi as The Godfather was, meaning they are not. That as always been the major trouble with Star Wars. The first movie got so popular that people elevated the entire thing to a level it never should have gotten in the first place at all. To this day I am still amaze at how certain people look at the 1977 movie as if it's a second coming.

Star Wars wasn't technically in the future. It was in the past...

Touche. But in that galaxy, they were more advanced than us, and still had 70's hair before we had 70's hair.

It's fun and that is why the prequel fail so much IMO because too many people elevated the first 3 movies to level they never deserved and they forgot that the main point of Star Wars is just to sit back and have fun. I will love watching them, at 9 years old when I first saw it I don't think my eyes blink once during the 2 hours But people have to stop saying the originals were masterpiece and threat them like they are...I don't know "the greatest movie ever"

CG, I don't know if I would go as far to call it a B movie. I saw the original Star Wars in 77 at the theater and it was a first run movie with effects and a story that were, at the time, second to none. Over the years, Lucas turned it into a circus, and rightly so, for his monetary purpose. To a kid, there was nothing better in the world than owning SW toys. It honestly, transcended what people thought was a blockbuster film. All in all, it was a Lucas copy of Kurosawa with a twist that no one ever thought of putting on a screen.

To any owners of By Brakhage:

I Netflix'd Volume One and really enjoyed it. Will the Blu Ray set of Vol. 1 & 2 be worth it for $40? Volume 2 isn't on Netflix so I can't check it out beforehand.

Yeah, like I said, I loved it when I was younger. As a kid, Star Wars was the biggest thing. But now after 1,000s and 1,000s of viewings as a kid, the "fun" ran out of it, and now I look at it how it is. I know millions and millions of people live off of it, dresses up, names their kids after it. But it's nothing but a movie that got huge and was passed down by generations, while Lucas likes to shove it back into our faces when he thinks it's fading.

Blah, blah, blah...

The pre-orders for "House" and "The Magician" are now up on Amazon.

So, either you guys can lock them in now for the $27.99 price or belly ache later when the prices jump up to $30+.

I meant B-movie genre. Not budget. Star Wars was huge in effects. It's like a big budget, not yet A-list stars, B-movie genre, space story. Like what Tarantino did with Grindhouse, but not flopped like Grindhouse.

It gets worse. Apparently the Empire is now in recession.

Awesome. I always wanted to see real life "bad guys" dress up as villains from films and comic books. Can't wait to see the real life "Joker", "Michael Myers", etc.

I like the first comment on that page:

"I'd worry less about being caught by police and more about George Lucas trying to sue."

Since you know what to expect, I think absolutely.
Honestly I knew I would never get this at $80, so I bit the bullet and got it at the sale, and I really think in the end I'll be happy I did.
imo the best thing about the sale is getting titles like this that can be mighty hard to stomach at msrp.
In fact, I'm about to order Monterey right now.

if you're willing to pay at least 20 bucks for volume one, then I would say $40 is worth it.

Sounds like Darth used his Sith Powers to get away clean. The only description they give us is this.

Quote:
Suffolk County police said they are searching for the man, described as around 6 feet tall.
Gee... real helpful. A male 6 feet tall.

There's actually a big Star Wars convention near me in Orlando very soon. That would be a perfect time to strike again. There are going to be about 1,000 Darth Vaders walking the streets.
