Anyone who has ordered any replacement cases - when you sent the payment did you get any kind of confirmation/shipping info from Criterion other than your Paypal receipt? Both Chungking Express and Bottle Rocket were in the digipacks at my B&N when I picked them up.

imo the best thing about the sale is getting titles like this that can be mighty hard to stomach at msrp.
In fact, I'm about to order Monterey right now.

Since everyday there is a "How is this title?" or "Would you recommend this?", I think I would like to ask one..........

Who owns, seen, and/or recommend Jubilee?

My Criterion Collection is pretty solid now
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
8 1/2
The Seventh Seal
Playtime
Repulsion
Wings of Desire
Hunger
Revanche
Summer Hours
Days of Heaven
Gomorrah
Yojimbo
Sanjuro

And the funny thing is the only one ive viewed so far is Benjamin Button These other movie better be good or they will find themselves on Amazon.com with the quickness.

as a 'real' star wars fan, none of you really get it. the point of making the style of SW what it is is because of an homage to Buster Crabbe serials flash gordon from 1930s through 1940s as well as Buck Rogers in 1939 (that's where the opening crawl came from). the acting from those serials is like star trek TOS, very stage-like. so acting-wise, it's kind of his point.

as for the future looking all worn down for ep.4-6 that was also the point, that the empire/communism/socialism is now old hat and the system is running inefficiently, so ships, technology are all old pieces of crap. vs. prequels where everything is spit-shining new at that moment in time.

I hope you were kidding about BB being the only Criterion you've seen, because it has nothing in common with the rest.

Yeah, thought the same thing. But, there's gotta be at least a few in there that he'll also like.

I don't consider this a "porn" at all..... and I'd defend it any-day-of-the-week on those grounds.... it's certainly not one of my favorite films though, and I would never call it an artistic masterpiece. The themes in it are pretty heavy, if you look past the graphic nature of it.
I just finished watching this for the first time and couldn't agree more. From all the reviews I was prepared for it to be a sleaze fest, yet despite all the eroticism (and boy, is there a lot) I never once felt that it was trashy or excessive. The film, aside from its real-life attachments, does an amazing job of conveying lust turned love turned obsession and how something so simple as an emotion/feeling can be one's own undoing. I'm now very excited to see more of Oshima's work.

So, either you guys can lock them in now for the $27.99 price or belly ache later when the prices jump up to $30+.

Can you link me to the House pre order?
I've searched for it but couldn't find anything.

Well I tried to search for it, even typed in the director's name and couldn't find it. Maybe CC was seeing things.

Have you checked out the trailer on Criterion's website? I guess it depends on whether you can deal with that type of thing for a whole movie's worth.

I'd give it just a mild recommendation, thumb slightly up.

Go to the top of this page, enter 'Hausu' or 'House' into the search box... Click search.

Yeah, like that.

So you seen it? It looks to have violence, sex, political issues, and punk rock, so my kind of thing. I just didn't know if the best scenes was already in the trailer and if those eye candy moments actually transform into a good blind buy.

Has anybody here gotten a CC title with the artwork bottom of the spine screwed up beacuse it was not centered properly when it was shrinkwrapped. BOTH my blu's of Hunger and Days of Heaven were like this. Not gonna attempt to takes these back to B&N since they have been opened and the discs play fine, plus I did'nt notice it until I had opened them. I did notice however that the main menu for Hunger has no music, all my other CC blu's do.

No, but when I got my copy of Red Desert when it came out, it has a cut on the bottom spine like a knife went into it. No big deal but I thought it was weird that someone stab a blu-ray case since I ordered it directly from Criterion. Someone had a box cutter out for some reason.

Funny I see you're a fan of Out Of The Blue, not quite as good as Easy Rider but a damn good film. I have the non-anamorpic DVD from Anchor Bay (It even came in a blue case!) with the Dennis Hopper commentary. I think that OOTB is now in the public domain sine I've seen budget DVD releases of it. Linda Manz of Days of Heaven was also great in the film, she seems to have retired from acting. The last film I remember seeing her in was in small role in The Game.
