I'm in Bond mode now, since I saw Spectre twice at the theater this past weekend, and I've been revisiting a handful of the older movies on Blu-ray.

That said, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly is another good movie starring Mathieu Amalric.

Maybe that unfairly maligned Bond film, Quantum of Solace, will get the respect that it deserves at long last. Haha.
Well after watching Spectre, I have a feeling Quantum of Solace will get more respect, I was disappointed by both, but I remember it being better than the new one.

Maybe we are all wrong and it is just because of The Grand Budapest Hotel

After watching The Wicker Man last night I'm ready to watch The Man with the Golden Gun. Britt Ekland is purty.

I have, and am happy with, the Canadian blu of this, but I'd love to see what Criterion would add in terms of suppliments. I've never seen the Jean-Jacques Beineix documentary about Bauby so I'd love to see that on a release.

I'm right in the middle of watching the Les Blank: Always for Pleasure box set! I've been in a documentary phase, having come off fresh from watching all the recent Errol Morris Criterion releases... and now I'm unto Les Blank. I just finished disc 1 and loved it! I really had no idea what to expect, having only seen his Burden of Dreams documentary on Herzog's film in the Amazon, but the short films I've seen of Blank's early career were great, especially the 20 minute doc on the hippies at LA's Love-In in 1967 (God Respects Us When We Work, But Loves Us When We Dance) and A Well Spent Life that featured more blues music from a man living down in Texas. The doc on Lightning Hopkins was great too, and I also especially enjoyed the Cajun short called Spend It All and learned about the Acadians (ie. Cajuns, which people ended up calling them). It's a really good set! I can't wait to get to the 2nd and 3rd discs now!

Anyone else here seen Les Blank's films?

I've never seen it, but I'm thinking of picking up Roeg's Walkabout tomorrow. How does it compare to Don't Look Now (which I enjoyed and will be picking up next week)? Would this be a good blind-buy?

Britt Ekland is not one of the better Bond girls, but she is definitely gorgeous in that movie.

I thought Walkabout was fabulous and has incredible imagery. I watched it after seeing DLN which is one of my top 10 Criterions.

Roeg reminds me of Lynch where his films are like onions with multiple layers. I say yes, but it is different so you may want other opinions.

Adore them. I tore into that box set last year, enjoying every last morsel. Even if not all of them are at the same level, I still had a great time thoughout. What's cool is I managed to spit out about 10,000 words about it, most of which didn't get read (Les Blank isn't the most popular), but I did hear from The Maestro and he said I was the only one who really "got it." So that was a nice bonus.

My favorites are generally the Louisiana films, but all of the music ones are fantastic. He exposes you to a different world.

If you liked Don't Look Now, I think Walkabout will be pretty safe. You either love or hate Roeg's style.

I haven't found the resells to be all that easy in some cases.

...unless you're willing to take a bath on the price.

Not sure why. A copy of Yi Yi sold on eBay yesterday for $30+, and that was while B&N was selling it for $20 or less. If you need to sell it, just wait til the sale is over and you can easily make your money back considering most other retailers will be selling it for $27-$30 or more.

Maybe that's the route I need to go with my Blu-rays.

I advertise my Criterions for $15 and no one ever seems to bite.

Criterion blus usually go for over $15 on eBay. Especially popular titles. I tried to be patient and wait for deals, but averaged closer to $18 each on most of my purchases.

It seems like everything I want sells high and everything I try to sell won't sell. I have Vampyr and Joan of Arc and no one has bid in three relistings. Lotting together seems to get more interest because you're not competing against 50k other sellers if someone is wanting to purchase in bulk.
