I have to worry about getting ripped off by unscrupulous buyers who apparently have most of the leverage when it comes to any kind of dispute--at least that's what I've heard.

That may not seem like a lot to a normal-functioning human being like yourself, but when you're as lazy and generally unproductive as I tend to be...it's a big deal.

And quite frankly the profit margin didn't seem that great when I scoped out what some of my Criterions were listed for there. I might be able to get a few bucks more, but I also have to pay a seller's feel...so the net result isn't always that much better there than it is here.

For every one of the Criterions I wanted to sell, there were at least a dozen already for sale on Ebay.
I often sell titles for MORE than what I pay for them at the B&N sale. I just sold a terrible Twilight Time blu-ray for $5 more than what it cost new + shipped, AND mine was open and used. I make a good profit on eBay, despite the seller's fees you keep bringing up. They aren't that much. Not to mention, when a DVD gets upgraded to blu, I can offset much of the cost of the upgrade by selling the DVD on there. But places like SecondSpin also give decent prices and reimburse for shipping.

What I like on eBay is that you get special shipping price and can easily print the labels with free tracking.
I find Criterions sell very well on here. Ive sold more CC titles on here then I have on eBay.

The other option is to sell via Amazon Marketplace - I offloaded a heap of Criterion DVDs that way. Their charges are in the same ball park as doing it via eBay/PayPal and you have the advantage of hooking into their existing listing, so it is really is a case of writing your description, setting you price and hitting enter!

A member of the Criterion Forum posted a rumor that critic John Simon filmed an interview for Criterion for a double feature of Jan Troell's The Emigrants and The New Land. It is supposedly going to be released in February, so, if true, it'll be announced next week.

I finished watching Kwaidan last night and it wasn't quite as good as I remember it being when i first saw it several years ago.

Definitely not scary at all--I wouldn't classify the individual stories as horror.

And not quite as visually impressive as I remembered.

But still a good watch and worth owning if you're a big Kobayashi fan.

I watched it for the first time a few weeks ago to determine whether or not to purchase the Blu-ray. I think it's a visually appealing film, especially during the story of the earless man, but overall I didn't care for it.

I usually sell my titles for $20 shipped. I typically only purchase titles during B&N sales, so I end up losing about $5 which isn't so bad. I just sell blind buys that I didn't like it or DVD's that are getting upgraded.

I agree with you on printing the labels. It's nice that you don't have to wait in line at the post office.

I'd never buy blu-rays from a site that lists casual encounters.

I'd never look for women on a website that lists used laundry machines.

I have used Craigslist a couple of times in the past to sell gym equipment and some old graphic novels/comic books. I got decent money, but it was a pain in the neck to list the sales, to sift through the emails, and to arrange meetings with the buyers at a common location.

I know that a lot of people here on Blu-ray.com routinely sell discs on eBay or Craigslist, and I don't see how they have the fortitude to deal with all of that hassle. That's not for me.

I am fortunate to have a good used CD/DVD/Blu-ray place right down the street from me, and that's where I sold off the bulk of my DVD collection when I made the leap to Blu-ray. Had this particular used store not been around, though, I probably wouldn't have even bothered trying to sell. I probably would have just lovingly placed my old DVDs in a blanket in a wooden basket and set them afloat on the Chattahoochee River here in Atlanta so that they would float, like the baby Moses, until they were found by loving parents.

I Won the Barnes and Noble Ebay Criterion Mini Lottery!

Two copies of Zatoichi for $39.99 each and M.S. World Cinema $29.99

Don't hate me. I'll either sleep through or have my order canceled on the next half dozen too good to be true bargains.

If it is any consolation, I'm going to give a couple friends really nice Christmas gifts. If they are interested that is.
