Congrats on grabbing those. Some people are actually really upset that BN didn't honor all the price goofs. I expected them to cancel mine but was surprised when they shipped it.

I picked up Walkabout today, and I'm excited to add it to my collection. So far I've purchased:

Summer with Monika
The Essential Jacques Demy
Walkabout

And then I hope to get the following before the sale ends (and hopefully nothing more, as my wallet really can't take it):

If they get upgraded, then I'll just sell the DVDs. I like having the titles in my collection and checking off spine numbers. I don't have the luxury of fast internet so the only way I can watch anything is to purchase.

veronique was a digipack?
by the way, could i buy the booklet anywhere?
mine was a bit torn.
i live in Europe and Criterion doesn't ship internationally.

Criterion's DVD of Veronique was digipak with a thicker booklet (now OOP, replaced with a plastic case version with a thinner insert), but the Blu-ray has always been in a plastic case with a thinner insert.

I believe Criterion does sell/ship replacement packaging to people outside the US/Canada.

Well this is a pretty compelling argument, so I think I'm going to pull the trigger today.

Also, no one here has taken any kind of a stance against Yi Yi or my impending blind buy.

Yi Yi is indeed one of the best blind buys you can do, wonderful film. It's almost as good as Still Walking.

I liked Still Walking better than Yi Yi. But both are great. Still Walking is one of the best films I've seen in the last decade.

I like Tokyo Story and Late Spring, but they're not really films that I feel compelled to own and watch multiple times.

I'm just watching my first Ozu (An Autumn Afternoon) and i have taken a break in the middle.

I don't get the "greatness". (unless other films are better)
Well, still half movie to see but it feels like a chore..

Also the whole setting and shots seem too claustrophobic to me..
