Happy Apu Day all!
You overpaid. The gents in the sale thread could find a way to whittle the price down to $7.99.

Talking about posters & Apu...Criterion delivered Apu Trilogy poster. Here is a picture of it in the media room wall. It's dark & I did not use flash (taken in cell phone)...so excuse the quality

My copy of the Apu Trilogy is shipping soon from Amazon and should arrive on Friday (with a grand total of $25). I haven't seen any of these films before, but I have seen Charulata, which I really enjoyed, so I'm thinking I'll probably like some of Ray's other films.

Yup. Original price would've been $59, but I got $34 worth of gift cards from Swagbucks and applied them to the order. I don't think I'll get a better deal than that.

If you have gotten a $34 B&N GC from Swagbucks, you had to pay a dollar or two
Anyway... off topic...

Apu was part of my larger order of Breaking Bad and The Sopranos.

All three ran me about $20.29 after taxes and gift cards.

Probably wise. The barrel is cumbersome.

Switching gears, I checked out Code Unknown last night and got through about half the supplements. I'm so used to people to people complaining about Haneke. I found him really enjoyable to listen to.

Wondering if I should fill in a few cracks in my collection. Any thoughts on the following discs?

La Dolce Vita
A Brief History of Time
Fellini Satyricon
Following
Everlasting Moments
Early Fassbender Eclipse

I adore A Brief History of Time, the score (Philip Glass) is mesmerising and its a great documentary, not watch in a while but I remember being hypnotised by it. I love the subject matter and its just a really well presented documentary, if you like his other stuff id recommend this . If I remember correctly its more about Hawkins himself than it is actually about his book, but it does feature stuff from the book.

Following is a no brainier, get it. I would say its one of Nolan's best films.

I loved Everlasting Moments but it can feel a bit slow at times, but I did enjoy it, only seen once though and was a while back >.>

I feel like I enjoy stuff in spite of Philip Glass scores instead of because of them.

Each to their own, I just think he's a brilliant composer and his works really add to the visual of the film/documentary.

I watched Beauty and the Beast with both soundtracks and I much preferred the one with Glass' opera, it felt bro magical and drew me into the visuals and the film story.

I read it was in the shop for repairs for 2 years when most films typically only need 2-3 weeks. The repairs allowed them to scan it in 4K.

I don't have it :P I have just seen the videos they put out of the restore and stuff and its incredible how they fixed these nearly destroyed images.

I've never seen a Satyajit Ray film, but will make the Apu Trilogy my first
