Well they took down the Sale Thread so I figured I'd post my pick-ups here.
I got:
The Complete Monterey Pop Festival
The Game
Throne of Blood
Moonrise Kingdom

Not too many considering all the other great deals on blu's I hadn't picked up yet. But after my first ever B&N Criterion Sale Haul of over 30, there weren't too many I was dying to get.

Still a lot I would like to pick-up including some more Kurosawa, Bergman, etc. But there'll be another sale soon!

Does anyone know if Criterion offers or sells the standard clear Blu-ray cases and insert artwork in place of the Digipak releases like "Night of the Hunter", "The Leopard" and "Foreign Correspondent", etc. I know they re-released certain Digipak titles in the standard case form, was wondering if they offered replacements for a fee like they did with their first run of Criterions a few years back...

I have ordered replacement packaging for several discs, as per these emailed instructions from Jon Mulvaney himself:

If you should need packaging in the future, we have replacement
packaging, including booklets, covers, and slip cases, available for
$5 each. This includes shipping and handling. Payment can be made via
PayPal to store@criterion.com. Please include your name and address in
the message field, along with the item(s) you are ordering (please be
as specific as possible), and as soon as we receive payment, we'll
ship them out to you!

And everything I've ever ordered from them, including cases, inserts and booklets, has arrived well-packaged and in a very timely fashion.

I hope that helps.

I love the Mosquito Coast too...I ended up caving in and buying the DVD a few years ago to see it again. I have to be honest though, the second half of the film kind of falls apart a bit, but boy, that first and second act are solid. It's the best pseudo-adaptation of Swiss Family Robinson in my opinion. Ford's character of an ignorant scientist is just fascinating.

I want to see more movies like that, about a family man fed up with a polluted society and wanting to escape to build a new civilization somewhere remote.

Could be Psycho.

Not Day 1 but an almost certain double-dip for me. It's a great film and a new transfer should look pretty spectacular. I'm not expecting a night-and-day improvement over the MGM disc but even a modest improvement could be significant.

Let's hope Seven Days in May is also in the pipeline.

While they're at it I'll take Bad Day at Black Rock, too.

I just finished Pather Panchali.

I have to say, that movie kind of kicked me in the gut.

One of the few "classic" films that really lived up to the hype.

If the other two are as good or, dare I say, even better than this one, then I'll be absolutely floored by this experience.
