I'm sure they are always juggling a tremendous amount of in process releases at the same time, many of which include Criterion created features that have to be scheduled with other people who are giving interviews/recording commentaries/writing essays etc. I'm sure they are trying to nail down what they know they can have completed for a March release.

Say what you will about the perceived delays in their announcements, but the releases themselves are rarely delayed once announced.

I lucked out last year (or maybe the year before). I picked it up during the Nov sale and then watched it during an actual ice storm (well, more freezing rain but still) a week or three later.

It was pretty cool.

Everyone probably had a good laugh at the details of my Blu-ray storage and organization that I posted a couple of weeks ago.

In short, I separate my movies by genre, so the Criterions go into their respective genres (Film noir, Horror, Western, etc.).

The Criterion titles that defy categorization are simply stored together in bins, and grouped by director or grouped simply by how well the cases (digipaks, etc.) fit into a bin.

When I was living on my own, my LDs and DVDs of American vintage (in my case, up to 1970) films were shelved by original releasing studio and chronologically within each of those. Some exceptions were made for "sets" like Criterion or boxed sets.

When I moved in with my Significant Other, I had to make things easier to find for her sake, so other than some boutique labels (Criterion, Twilight Time, et alia), animated films, and franchise/series films, everything is alphabetical.

They're announcing another Lynch title but one of the techs at the server farm that host Criterion.com was wearing the wrong color shirt today and their 15,000 page contract with Lynch clearly prohibits that sort of inattention to detail.

They will rue the day that they said they would announce some releases on a Wednesday and then did it on *Thursday*. I admire your willingness to deprive them of their financial livelihood for the chance that this grievous wound on our souls well never happen again!

Clearly, the folks at Criterion are pushing back the announcements so they can announce their release of the theatrical versions of the Star Wars trilogy when The Force Awakens hits theaters.

I'm afraid the delay in announcements is probably my fault.

You see, I ordered a copy of Armageddon on DVD from Amazon (well, it was only $11 brand new, and I wanted the Criterion-exclusive bonus features). I'm sure that the entire staff passed out when word spread they had sold another copy after all this time.

I promise I won't buy anymore oddball titles so close to announcement day (or newsletter day) in the future.
