I am a huge fan of criterion, and there are very few criterion movies that I just am not interested in seeing. The problem is that the only thing I hear about these stellar movies, are in the blu reviews. So, to get opinion from another source: Is Marienbad a solid movie? It's one of the few that I have never seen.

BTW I just ordered my copy of The Seventh Seal!!

You have to keep on top of these releases. I like how they release two per month, it will make it much easier to afford them and also keep up with them.

Holy crap! You guys weren't kidding about this "Last Year At Marienbad" packaging!!! I still haven't been able to get the damn thing out! It feels like I'm gonna tear the whole cardboard sleeve apart! Arghhhhh!

CC

EDIT: Finally got the movie out! I just don't think I'm gonna put the booklet back in, knowing that it's that much of a hassle.

I'm still all caught up..... The fact that they don't charge until they ship is always a pleasant surprise on the CC bill

EDIT:

The Complete Monterey price is great..... better than I thought it would be.... let's hope for a $5 drop or so before release.

It looks like the booklet has almost bursted the bottom seam on the inner case.

But I do see why they went with cardboard, given the way the case looks which is awesome.

I love how Monterey Pop is $34.99 right now. It makes almost NO SENSE not to go for TCMPF instead.

And Beta Man, remember all the crying over missing Last Year At Marienbad at $26.99? My Amazon order came out to $25.99!

EDIT: Oh damn! It's currently $24.99! Oh well, c'est la vie...

I'd say it's one of the top ten, maybe even top five films of all time.

I just preordered Pierrot myself... Not too interested in the unscripted Criterion releases though... :|

Pierrot is a very entertaining movie that should look stunning on Blu (it's a very colorful movie). The only problem is I feel like I just bought it on DVD, and the DVD wasn't cheap. So I'm still not sure if I'll be purchasing the BD. Might depend on price.

Normally it will drop a few dollars before the release date.

My copy of Marienbad shipped from Amazon on Tuesday and arrived on Wednesday, and that was with the free Super Saver shipping. That is definitely not the norm, but I'm not complaining.

Opening the package was a bit of a hassle, but at least I had warning. Unfortunately, the booklet arrived a little bent at the corner.
