I didn't know it off the top of my head, so I put it on youtube here at the office. It isn't too bad at all. ...and I would not call myself a U2 fan. youtube has now gone off and is giving me a mix of Lou Reed songs, so it can't be all that bad.

The only song that I remember from City of Angels is "Iris" by the Goo Goo Dolls, which got a lot of radio play at the time. |

Sure, other companies release foreign films and forgotten classics as well, but they are often all over the place in terms of actual selection and quality. |

When I saw the movie, I was switching between a state of utter concentration and a feeling of euphoric unease of that makes sense, I was so concentrated about the story but I was feeling so euphoric uneasy because the cinematography is out of this world I did not know where to look. I felt like a man not feeling good enough to look at a beautiful woman. |

Criterion states, about "A Brighter Summer Day:"
"Among the most praised and sought-after titles in all contemporary film, this singular masterpiece of Taiwanese cinema, directed by Edward Yang, finally comes to home video in the United States. Set in the early sixties in Taiwan, A Brighter Summer Day is based on the true story of a crime that rocked the nation."[emphasis added] Perhaps they should have written island rather than nation. |

I love the music video for Stay (Faraway, So Close!), directed by Wim Wenders...it can be found on my U2 fan site (I've had for almost 19 years online now): U2Station.com .

I've come to really appreciate, and, in fact, prefer the kinds of movies they put out. There is a dearth of quality films coming out of Hollywood, so it was only natural that I looked for something else to fill the void. I've been working from the AFI 100 Greatest American Films lists, the Academy Award Best Picture winners and nominees, and more recently, the Sight and Sound Greatest Films of All-Time list. So far, I've not been disappointed by a single purchase I've made. Some grab me immediately, like Tokyo Story. Others don't blow me away on the first viewing, but I know that with repeate viewings, I'll better understand, and appreciate the nuances I might have missed the first time. I think of something like Some Like it Hot, which didn't floor me the first time I saw it. I was much younger, and hadn't acclimated myself to film styles prevalent in the Golden Era of Hollywood. Now, it's one of my all-time favorite comedies. I'm a huge fan of Billy Wilder and Marilyn Monroe both. Should Criterion ever release the film, that would be the one I'd purchase, and keep as the definitive edition. |

I would go with Two Days, One Night since it is stacked with extras and includes an early documentary directed by them. |
