That's it! Thank you! It's either Here Comes Mr. Jordan or the Warren Beatty remake, Heaven Can Wait. But since Criterion seems to be mining the Columbia vaults for classics like Only Angels Have Wings and Gilda, I'm thinking the 1941 original is more likely.

A quick question.
Is criterion still doing the disk replacement program?
I have discovered a few discs that have bronzed amongst my collection.

I believe that Warren Beatty was a football player in Heaven Can Wait.

Yes, mail the disc to Criterion c/o Jon Mulvaney.

There's no need to email JM. I would just send the disc in.

McCabe. Not quite unexpected, but still a great news, nontheless.

The Whale and the Squid - When Mill Creek announced it, I was like 'WTF, this sounds like a Criterion title' and here it is.

Lone Wolf & Cub - This will bring them a lot of $$$.

The Exterminating Angel (?) - Hopefully. Bunuel is sorely neglected on blu-ray.

And that phoenix clue could also be a clue for The Flight of the Phoenix. I'll leave it at that.

Perhaps wishful thinking but…

The bird and the clouds = Brewster McCloud?

I also really wish the Queen on a planet would be Queen of Earth, but then, I'm still bitter about it not receiving a U.S. Blu-ray release.

JFK is very unlikely. It already has an Ultimate edition set from WB.

Queen of Hearts
JFK - "Jack"
Pelican
Car

Hmm....

I'm baffled by that one as well as the little man in front of the motorcycle and the flowers? coming out of the right side of the clock.

Duh! (jmclick slowly and quietly slinks off in embarrassment, wishing he could simply disappear ...)

Agreed. I just watched Foreign Correspondent a few days ago. The supplements have an interview of Alfred Hitchcock by Dick Cavett in which Cavett asks Hitchcock "Who are the directors whose work you admire?" Hitchcock answers "Truffaut and Bunuel."

Someone at Criterion guessed it as Mizoguchi's The Story of the Last Chrysanthemums. I was hoping for a clue A Matter of Life and Death, but I don't see it

Looking at the cartoon as a whole, I am reminded of a parade, and I'm wondering if it's a hint for the award-winning Serbian film The Parade/Parada?

Thanks! I believe that The Story of the Last Chrysanthemums is correct. I just googled "chrysanthemum" and that is what one looks like.

Could the JFK clues be for Robert Drew's Primary and/or Crisis? I recall speculation about these a while back. Plus the current DVDs are long OOP.

I know that many are hoping that the baby carriage and cat refers to Lone Wolf and Cub, but I am still holding out hope for Bringing Up Baby.

Already mentioned Chrysanthemums. Pretty sure the little man is The Kid.

The reference could also be Jackie Kennedy too. Not that that would get us any closer than to a 2012 Dutch movie.

But still.

I was thinking the cartoon as a whole is for Wenders' Road Trilogy.
