It really goes to show how great of a year it's been for both blu Ray and DVD if you look at what didn't make the cut.

Also, my heart goes out to all those who are not region free.

Saturn's much more well known for it's rings, but Jupiter does have a thin ring system of it's own, though much less frequently portrayed.

By the way, very much like your writing/blog. I felt your Bridge of Spies write up was better than the film!

I am 99% sure Lost Highway is coming, I think Universal owns it and it would be hard to believe that Criterion picked up Mulholland Drive from them but not Lost Highway, especially because it seems like Universal isn't going to do anything with it (they released a barebones dvd awhile back and that was it)

Its definitely not wrong at all, its the exact cart down to a T.
And it looks like a wolf cub to me too rather than a cat, which would make it a "lone wolf cub"

I think you could be right! Jupiter does have rings, and when trying to figure out what the stars meant, it seemed obvious: "My god, it's full of stars!"

I doubt Criterion would re-release 2001, but just for fun, even if it is Saturn, that is the planet they were going on the novel version.

I thought it was already mentioned here, but the dolls definitely seem like they are from Soderbergh Bubble (2005), seems like the other movies mentioned (Valley of the Dolls, Beyond the Valley of the dolls) just refer to dolls as girls, which I don't think it is strong reference alone, we will see.

I watched that the other day on Hulu and was underwhelmed , I mean aside from the beauty of Silvana Mangano , then again I have never been a serious fan of Italian neo-realism so that might be it.

I haven't seen it. It sounds like an interesting story, though. Thanks for the opinions.

I watched it a month or two ago. I liked it, but it's definitely not a film that I'd consider great or must-see worthy.

Me and my friends were going to go see it, but for some reason, we didn't buy tickets in advance. So I look on Fandango before we left to see that the shows are sold out. Thank goodness I did, because when you're driving from Washington county, you better make sure that nothing goes wrong.

We bought tickets though and saw it on Wednesday. Highly recommend going to see it in 70mm. The film went off without any projection issues. Fortunately they extended the roadshow here for another week.
Wow, that would have been a heck of a long drive indeed all the way from Washington co. Like 30-40 min. at least, huh? Fortunately for my friends and I, we were only a 5 minute ride away, in the next neighborhood over (Sq. Hill), so it wasn't too far, but then again, it still sucked to arrive at the theater all excited and ready to see this movie and then getting shut down along with a bunch of other fans who didn't realize it was sold out too! I'm gonna try and check it out next week, maybe on a Monday night, but I'm sure it will still be sold out, being that its the only theater in this part of the state that has the 70mm print!

Back on the "C" subject again (aka the ringed planet with stars)...

I was just thinking, I know its a long shot, but what if it was Soderbergh's Solaris? I think its a fantastic film and a worthy remake of Tarkovsky's original. I don't remember seeing a ring around that planet in the film, nor stars for that matter, but if there was ever a modern day sci fi film I'd like to see on blu-ray, it would have to be that movie. Soderbergh is already well established in the Criterion Collection, but my guess is there isn't enough interest or demand for that film to be brought to blu-ray. One version of Solaris is never enough!

Why is it that Solaris (2002) isn't on blu-ray yet anywhere in the world? It stars George Clooney too! (a high profile actor).

What about Dolls by Kitano?
Has anyone mentioned that?

I see it's being released in 2,5 months in UK.

But why the baby cart?
To show that it's a cub?

Could there be a significance in that sparkle/glow(?) on the left of the ring?
I don't think that's just something random.
