Me and my friends were going to go see it, but for some reason, we didn't buy tickets in advance. So I look on Fandango before we left to see that the shows are sold out. Thank goodness I did, because when you're driving from Washington county, you better make sure that nothing goes wrong.

We bought tickets though and saw it on Wednesday. Highly recommend going to see it in 70mm. The film went off without any projection issues. Fortunately they extended the roadshow here for another week.
I spent my New Year's Eve with a few friends at the roadshow. It was an absolute blast. I don't think it's a masterpiece, and it almost certainly won't win Tarantino a ton of new fans, but for the already initiated it has everything you look for in his films, including great Samuel L. Jackson one-liners.

Make sure your inner monologue says this in Samuel L. Jackson's voice:
"You're makin' a deal with that diabolical b**ch?!?!?!"

They also passed out a booklet with a few production notes and photos:

"Dolls" at the time of "Valley of the Dolls" were also pills.

These two could go together. When I first looked at that clue that sparkle made me wonder if the rings might really be the track of an orbit.

Something like Solaris might not be that crazy (though I have no idea what the stars might mean...it's been a long time since I've seen it and don't really remember a lot about it).

I know I'll love these.

EDIT: I already love Gilda. But I know I will love Paris Belongs To Us.
Eheh. Paris Belongs To Us is currently my least favorite Rivette. Struggled to stay awake while watching it in a rep theatre several years back. Maybe I was just tired though, so I'll give it another chance on BD.

I'm a big fan but know many who feel the same way as you. It's not particularly accessible in the way that a lot of the new wave movies are, and the length has seen a few of my friends fall before it.

That is funny, and a crazy coincidence. I started to get mad, I bought a HDX Ultraviolet Copy of The Big Heat just yesterday. Which of course would never get seen if Criterion were to release it

I just thought of something, could the kid stealing a bike (a clue for The Kid, and Bicycle Thieves) also be part of a greater clue for Thieves' Highway? While it's technically not a "highway", I think it could still work. Arrow released it recently in the UK, sourced from a new 4K restoration from Fox, so it seems likely that Criterion will put out their version this year.

It also kind of looks like the naked guy is praying (hands held up in sort of a praying position), so besides The Naked Island, I think that could be also be a clue for The Naked Prey, another recently released title in the UK.

Watched Grand Illusion for the first time this morning. Really blown away by this film. I had put it off because I thought spine #1 may be a let down. Not the case.

Very different portrayal of war than anything I've seen before. Renoir stripped everything down to basic human characteristics. Socioeconomic, purpose, etc.
This is now in my top 4 war films. 9/10

I think the chopper is definitely Easy Rider and the kid is definitely The Kid but the two clues combined might mean something. There's no evidence that the kid is stealing the chopper. All you can say for certain is that he's picking it up, so it's obviously Pickup on South Street. These clues are like clouds -- you can read anything you want into them and that's what I want.

I can't imagine him "lifting" the bike as anything other than a reference to Bicycle Thieves. Not that it really matters anyway, since it's already been announced just like The Kid
