Just bought the MASTERS OF CINEMA disc of DRAGON INN. Hopeful for A TOUCH OF ZEN since I missed the new restoration screening at the NYFF this year-though, I think it'll be a little while longer on that one.

Janus Films just posted this photo of Chantal Akerman and Babette Mangolte, so hopefully this means an upgrade of Jeanne Dielman.

If Criterion really wants to make me happy, they'll offer a standalone release of Koyaanisqatsi as soon as possible.

Edited to spoil tag, but you can see here about an upcoming release:

[Show spoiler]

I am on my iPad and cannot embed, but here's an image on my Twitter that shows what Scottie is talking about. The URL leads to a 404 page, but it clearly is Angels.

This recent trend of spoiling Christmas every release day has put a damper for me on the fun of visiting this thread on announcement day. Been coming here for over six years to read and engage in the anticipation and buildup to when the releases finally drop (or get delayed lol). I guess this is the new reality. The kids have discovered where the presents are hid. Those like me who still believe in a Criterion Santa Clause will just have to stay away until after the goodies have been placed under the tree.

Still get a kick out of Italy's and Shell's early announcements, especially when their snares actually catch an unwary rabbit or two.

That doesn't seem like something they're likely to do does it?

Perhaps we should have a rule that all URL related leaks should be spoiler tagged? I don't think that's too much to ask to appease both parties.

Now now, we have fun speculating, but the Christmas presents are the covers, supplements and all that. Plus a lot of what we find "hidden" doesn't actually appear under the tree, like Boyhood. There were others mentioned recently with old phantom pages that never materialized.

That said, if people are really bothered, then I will stop.

Edit: or spoil tag. That's a good idea. I edited my post.

That would be HUGE news, because that would mean that Criterion got the ABC Pictures library from Disney, which would likely include films like They Shoot Horses, Don't They?, Sleuth, etc. and a return to the collection of Straw Dogs, Rebecca, Spellbound and Notorious.

Sadly, no.

I'm still going to remain optimistic for future standalone releases of Brief Encounter, Koyaanisqatsi, and The Last Picture Show.

I wholeheartedly agree! Those high tech savvy Criterion lovers just love finding those phantom pages! I'm pretty high tech but I love to be surprised too.

Or it could be for something he didn't direct, like Play it Again, Sam or Godard's King Lear.

Looks like Criterion is going to be releasing
[Show spoiler]Star Wars: The Original Trilogy

Here is a 404'd link to the release, which will be available upon official announcement:

EDIT: How did I find the link? My cousin works at Criterion and I convinced him to let me remote access his computer. While he wasn't looking I found some links, and while I won't spoil the other ones, I will say that they're going to be HUGE. Like...Donald Trump HUGE.

Looking it that way, I doubt many here would avoid the temptation

I really don't care if they get spoiled before announcement, especially when they are known before they decide to postpone the announcement because of assets, supplements, etc.

The upgrades are still impossible to spoil most of the times.

Also I am not sure this about phantom pages was something that was always possible, it's been going on for the 3 last announcements, but it wasn't that way before, I remember they waited to update everything at once most of the time.

I still get some enjoyment watching the covers, extras, etc.
